CEV and just tested positive

I've avoided it so far and have had 4 vaccines. I am clinically extremely vulnerable so I'm worried how this will pan out.

If you are CEV and have had covid please could you tell me how the virus affected you?

I've reported my result and I think I'm eligible for treatment.

So far this feels like the same thing I get every autumn and end up on antibiotics and steroids with symptoms lasting 4-8 weeks. I was very ill last year and the GP wanted me in hospital but I had no one to look after the dc. I'm a single/lone parent and a carer for my elderly parent. I've been particularly tired this week with a bit of a scratchy throat and started with a bit of a cough yesterday and my chest is tight but mainly I'm aching and my head and face and teeth hurt like with sinusitis. I don't feel too bad considering all that. Ds have given me his cuddlies and we are watching Disney+ snuggled up on the sofa under a duvet. He's tested positive too today.

Exh is CEV & has twice tested positive this year, the first time he was asymptomatic & last month tested positive & was so ill he was admitted to have the infusion for the second time, he recovered within a week unlike ds who caught it from his dad & was poorly for a fortnight.

Thank you for all the replies. I feel rough this morning. The worst morning so far. I'm just chasing the antivirals. I'm on high dose steroid inhalers and oral steroids too. My chest is worse today but not too bad. I've dragged myself out of bed and am going to crawl onto the sofa.

First time covid positive here. Cardiac and kidney patient. Was rough on day one high temp and terrible bone crushing fatigue. Day two absolutely fine. Day three, temp returned and washed out. Day four fine again. no other symptoms other than fatigue and temp.

I didn't report it. Just took soluble paracetemol which I find works better and more quickly (maybe I just think that!) Will wear a mask for the Winter though and I don't care if that is controversial or not, I'm doing it because it feels right for me.

It was like a mediocre flu for me. I rang GP about antivirals but (typical) they didn’t know what I was talking about. I was referred to the “hospital at home” service and I had to record my temp and oxygen levels three times a day.

I was quite scared having been frightened out of my wits earlier in the pandemic by consultant/GP but I guess five jabs helped matters so although I ended up with a spectacular cough, I really wouldn’t say that covid was even close to making the top 10 viruses I’ve had.

The GP doesn't think I'd be eligible for antivirals but I've been referred so just need to wait 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you previously received a letter stating your eligibility?

AlternativelyWired · 10/10/2022 15:57

Yes and several texts and emails

I felt the same..it's rubbish isn't it? On the up side my symptoms started last Wednesday with nausea then threw up big time all Wednesday night, had slight cough and slept all next day then felt like I had a heavy cold. I've had flu and this was nowhere near as bad. Today I'm annoyingly sinusy but I've tested clear. Hope you have a similar scenario.

I haven’t read all posts. DH has cancer, tested positive last Monday, rang 111, went into hospital for an IV infusion on Wednesday, he was fairly poorly, within two days was on the mend, tested negative a week after testing positive.

ring 111 get the ball rolling, there’s a time frame you have it between. DH was also offered the tablets, they might not work as well as the infusion.

hope you feel better soon
