IV Infusion for Covid 19 questions

DH has cancer and tested positive for Covid recently, we contacted 111 and they arranged for his hospital to give him a IV infusion for Covid 19, I don’t know the name, he wasn’t given any information, ie the name, how long it would take to work etc etc.

we know people who had the tablets and have tested negative very quickly (maybe within 24 hours).

wondering if anyone has had this, how you were after, and how long before you tested negative.

thanks

My mum had it (also cancer) and it stops you getting any worse. It doesn't actually make you better. My mum didn't carry on testing, but it did take her a few weeks to get properly better. Hers was Sotrovimab.

But it works quickly, as in it gets to work right away.

I had the IV infusion on day 5. Took a while due to the need for a OCR at the time.

The earlier you have it the better the results - it used to be that day 5 was the latest you could have it, but not sure in rules now. It tends to stop you getting any worse rather than just making you better I believe.

I did test negative fairly quickly afterwards - within a couple of days. And I didn't become any more poorly either, and started to improve shortly after.

Thank you, he’s beginning to feel better, although approx 24 hours after the IV he still tested positive.

My exh was hospitalised with Covid a month ago, had the infusion because he has MS & was feeling 75% better within a couple of days & totally better within a week.

It was a couple of days before I felt better and tested negative
