Will over 40s be offered booster this year?

I can’t find anything saying we will but I personally would rather have it. Just thought with the increase in cases and potential bad flu season if it will be offered to us?!

No, over 50’s unless working in health & social care, vulnerable, carers or household members of immunosuppressed people.

I don’t know what’s going on. Me and dh are both under 50. We were invited by our GP and have both had it.

Starlightstarbright1 · 04/10/2022 17:25

I can have it classed as frontline care though

Florin · 04/10/2022 17:45

Dh is 40 with zero health problems and our doctor has sent him a letter inviting him to come for his next booster.

NoNameChangeRequired · 04/10/2022 18:12

Whereas we, as a household with an immunosuppressed CEV person, still can’t get it.

Luana1 · 04/10/2022 18:15

If someone under 50 was classed as CEV last round will the NHS contact them for the booster this time does anyone know - or is it just a blanket over 50s only?

Is he on anti depressants or anything? My DH is physically very healthy but needs anti depressants so seems to have fallen into a 'vulnerable' category even though he isn't really.

Florin · 04/10/2022 19:28

@pootle40 no antidepressants and hasn’t been to the doctor in years only medication he takes is some hayfever tablets in the summer. He has been offered to go in for a covid injection and a normal flu vaccine too. It is very bazaar. My best friend who is 45 has also been offered one she doesn’t have any health problems that are diagnosed but she is under investigation for her gallbladder.

I'm over 50 and can't get it. I would love to have it. I had a gov.uk text saying to book but when I go online and put my details in I get a message saying I'm not eligible 🙁I guess it's because I'm not CV or work in a job that requires me to have it.

DSGR · 04/10/2022 19:44

That’s not right, if you’re over 50 you’re eligible. Contact your GP.
For everyone else, if you’re under 50, no you won’t get it unless you have a health condition, are frontline or vulnerable.
To be fair, under 50s who are healthy are at minuscule risk, especially now we’ve had it doing the rounds several times. There are no new variants to worry about

I'm the same

gogohmm · 04/10/2022 19:48

I've been offered one, no underlying health issues

2MinuteRice · 04/10/2022 20:23

I can have it through my job, got the message a few weeks ago but hadn't booked it.

Oddly got a text this week from what I thought was the GP but now I've looked it's from NHSvaccine. Not cev or anything so not sure why.

Is it like before and some areas are getting through people quicker than others? I'm in the south east if that's the case.

2MinuteRice · 04/10/2022 20:24

I don't have a health condition, not that I'm aware of anyway!

Nationally, 50-65s who are not CV will be offered soon. (Some GP surgeries seem to be doing their own thing.)

New variants are being monitored constantly and some are increasing quickly. Many actually working in the field are not as dismissive as you. Increased immune evasion is a real concern.

I am 61 not eligible yet, DH 65 had his booster at the weekend.

Caroffee · 05/10/2022 10:42

I'm wondering if some of the PPs who are under 50 and don't fit any of the categories are on their jabs (and first boosters) rather than fourth or fifth jabs?

Caroffee · 05/10/2022 10:42

Third* jabs

uncomfortablydumb53 · 06/10/2022 19:10

I'm 57 and had mine today but I'm classified as CV

I think Denmark managed to sequence over 100 different circulating variants in the last month. It’s evolving on speed at the moment.

Officially it’s only over 50s and higher risk groups ar the moment. I suspect the JCVI are going to end up lowering that at some point.
