How long did Parosmia last for you?

Just wondering how long it last for people. I had covid last week and although pretty much back to normal I've developed this horrible distorted taste. Basically anything sour or acidic tastes like a foul smelling chemical. It's awful as I can't have any condiments with my meals which I usually love! Really hoping it gets better as I know some people can have this for ages. Has anyone had this and had it improve quite quickly?

Unfortunately I had Covid over a year ago and still have a problem with sense of smell. My favourite perfume smells like a pile of rotten vegetables now and I get horrible nausea when I smell any after shave or cologne with a citrus base, it’s hard to describe but it makes me wretch . The smell is chemically and foul. I would be delighted to get my proper sense of smell back! It drives me nuts!

I had parosmia from when I hit 6 weeks pregnant and still have it now (little boy is 5 months old). I think it effects people in different ways, been suffering for over a year now.

I had covid Oct 2020, noticed a change in taste Feb 2021, that lasted 8 months but certain foods I still can’t eat.

I've had it for over a year now, I had covid in August 2021

11 months for me now, from last November

18 months in...

I had Covid at the beginning of the first lockdown, so two and a half years ago. My sense of smell is still buggered. I've more or less accepted that this is life forever more.

Over a year of altered smell.

The putrid and rancid smells were consistent for about 5 months, still get it occasionally now.

Only 2 weeks. I lost my smell/taste entirely but ended up with a sort of sickly biscuit smell at times, which was horrible. It was like a 'placeholder' smell! However that's gone now and am back to normal.

Not me, but DH is 14 months in. It's better than it was at the start (he would have to leave the house when I was cooking, eat on his own - drowning his food in chilli sauce - and then leave again while we got rid of the smell). Now it flares up if he has a cold, and never feels quite normal, but is mostly manageable and not too bad. He is pinning his hopes on the idea that your nasal synapses regenerate every 18 months, so he might feel better then. Fingers crossed...
Sorry not to be more positive - you hear such a range of things, hope you are relatively lucky with it and it feels better soon.

2 years. I can taste sweet, sour, salt, umami, bitter luckily.so can enjoy food to an extent but smell is still very much affected. I can't get nuances in flavour or even some very strong smells. Some smells I can pick up faintly but as other distorted scents. Luckily mine aren't too unpleasant as such, just a faint sweet, plasticky, burning smell.
