Over 50’s jab. What would you do?

Any doctors out there?
I don’t want to waste my GP’s time by getting an appointment for this, but I’m not sure who else to ask.
So I’m about to be offered the latest covid booster as I’m over 50.
Ive had all three previous vaccinations. I felt a bit crap after the 1st Astra zenica, felt fine after the 2nd AZ, but the 3rd vac, Moderna really hit me. The injection point was swollen within minutes and later that day the left side of my face became numb. It recovered after around 12 hours. I reported it to the yellow card scheme and was contacted by them and asked for further information.
The over 50’s vaccinations are done at our local go surgery. It’s very efficient and you are in and out within minutes. Normally, I would be quite happy with this set up, but on this occasion, I would like to discuss things beforehand. Any suggestions?

As far as I know, there is only one option for this booster. Can anyone confirm? If there are different options, I’ll just ask for an or phizer.

There isn't enough of the new moderna for everyone so I understand they will prioritise the most vulnerable. Others will get the original pfizer. I would ask for that.

A bivalent Pfizer one has now been approved as well, but I don't know if it's available yet.

There’s another new booster out, can’t remember it’s name. You’re likely to be offered that as they try and save Pfizer for kids.
When you go for your jab ask which it is when you book in, if you don’t want it then don’t have it.

As well as Moderna & Pfizer?

The only new booster approved so far in UK is the moderns bivalent.
There is a new Pfizer bivalone awaiting approval

At the moment you will either be offered the new moderna or the original Pfizer.
There are 26 million eligible for booster but only 13 million doses of new moderna

Unless a really new more dangerous version of covid comes along I am not going to bother with boosters. I just don't feel its necessary.

I'm torn on this one too OP.

I'm over 50 and sure I'm going to be called soon.

I have had all three types and with all three was really ill for quite some time. The last one I had - Moderna - I told my husband that if I'd have had a fall and my arm hurt that much I'd be going to A&E convinced it was broken.

... and the HEADACHE! I suffer from migraines and I think the headache triggered one and on the first jab I was sick for three days solid - same with second - third one I took migraine drugs as a preventative measure.

I really REALLY don't want to go for another jab. I had Covid - over Christmas - I was absolutely fine - barely a symptom.

I don't go for flu jab ever either.

I'm 60, type 1 diabetic and haven't been offered it . In fact I was never invited for any jabs I just booked when my age group was allowed to. I even asked at my surgery today and they said 'wait for the notification'.

The Pfizer bivalent one has been approved. I’ve already been offered a booking for my booster (I’m oldish!) so will check that it is for one of the new types. Possibly had Covid early 2021 (only confirmed by antibody test, no actual symptoms). I’ve not had Omicron (unlike most of my family/friends) - don’t know whether this is due to an amazing immune system 🙄 or just luck, in which case it is quite possible that my luck is due to run out!

I'm also having a wobble . I've been fine ish with the first two jabs but I've read more and more about long covid and am not sure a third jab is for me .

But long Covid is from having the virus not the vaccine?

Yes but if you don't have the booster are you more likely to catch covid and then run the risk of being left with long covid

Early 50s here. had all three jabs.

no boosters for me. Had covid this year

if the three vaccines isn’t enough to help my body so be it.

I don’t have underlying health conditions so should have enough natural defence.

I’m not giving these companies any more profits via the nhs. They can keep the vaccines for those who are weak and need them.

As I've already had five, this is the only one I'm interested in having now.

(I've had AZ x2, Pfizer x2, Moderna x1. They say God loves a trier.)

Have MS. In my 50s. Having flu and Covid jab on same day. If only they had a norovirus jab, I'd get that too.

I’m 56 and really hoping to be offered the booster soon. Going to Australia in October so would ideally like to have it before I travel. Didn’t get ill for more than 24 hours with doses 1, 2 or 3.

I will probably give this one a miss, felt unwell after the first AZ one, ok after 2nd but my Moderna booster made me quite ill and shaky for a couple of days then I got shingles

@SpinCityBlues I've had AZx2, Pfizer x 3. Plus covid, very badly, (after 2). I will definitely hold out for the moderna bivalent.
I had zero reactions after the first 4 vaccines but No5 poleaxed me. I was delighted because I thought it might be working.😂
