Anyone else having a Covid Bank Holiday weekend?

Lindy2 · 28/08/2022 15:58

DH tested positive 4 days ago. DD14 got the faintest of positives last night.

DD11 and I are still OK but pretty much just moping around to see what happens. She's got just over a week before starting her new Secondary school and would be so upset to miss the first days. It's making me very anxious. She had her second vaccination a week ago though so I'm hoping she'll be able to dodge it by being at pretty much top level immunity right now.

It's not really the bank holiday we were hoping for, but on the plus side, compared to horror that was prevaccinated Covid that we all had in January 2021 it really doesn't compare at all. Old Covid and new Covid are completely different illnesses.

Yes. Day 17 and I’m still poorly. Not how I’d envisaged my summer hols 😫

unicormb · 28/08/2022 17:03

No covid, but my husband is working, as he does every other bank holiday, because he has poor organisational skills. So every BH weekend it's me watching the kids. Fun.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 28/08/2022 17:05

Yep both adults positive, kids haven't tested but don't have symptoms and are of the age where self isolating in their bedrooms is the norm. Annoyingly I had annual leave booked this weekend.

I'm sorry to hear that. When we first had it, it went on and on. After 3 weeks though I definitely started to start to feel stronger. I hope you start to recover soon.

Yes, I have it, as does DH and DD1. 12 year old DD2 seems to be avoiding it so far, she's also recently vaccinated so hopefully she'll not catch it.
I agree OP, it's pretty rubbish but completely different to our last time we had it in March 2020, I feel nowhere near as unwell as we did then.

I hope you manage to still enjoy the weekend. It's very hard doing everything by yourself though.

That's good that your elder DD avoided it. I'm hoping the same for my DD11.

It seems pretty clear that Covid is just always going to be around. If it gets a bit easier each time though and with vaccine boosters too, hopefully life will be easier to manage.

I hope you all feel better soon.

Yes day two for me. My two kids seems to be fine so far but will be testing us all on and off over the next week. Feeling rubbish. I had avoided it to date.

MissLC · 28/08/2022 17:29

Me too! I am on Day 8. I was off this week on annual leave with so many fun, new things planned for me and DH to do with DD and I haven't been able to do any of it. It's my first time of having covid too. So annoying. I haven't even been particularly poorly!
Hope everyone gets better quickly and that we get some sun when we're eventually allowed out again

FlyingFlamingo · 28/08/2022 17:39

Yep. We also had to travel home from our holiday when I tested positive (7 hours in the car with covid is categorically not fun!)
So far I have it (line getting lighter and over the worst), dh has it (cold symptoms) and dd2 has it (cough and high temperature), they both had symptoms for days before getting positive tests. Dd1 has plans for later this week so she is avoiding us like the literal plague!
We are all vaxxed and all on our second time (first time round was winter 2020). This feels very different - more like a cold than last time round. I’m much less tired and it seems much less prolonged, and I haven’t lost my sense of smell.
I’m not sure if it’s better or worse that it’s summer this time - I can sit in the garden but I could be on the beach!

Blizzardbeach · 29/08/2022 04:08

I tested positive at just gone 12am. Hoping it doesn't get much worse.
Went from no line at all yesterday afternoon to a big fat, dark line (making the C line look quite pathetic in comparison!) Just gone midnight when I had the hump I couldn't sleep

purplepandas · 29/08/2022 07:47

Yep, so pissed off. One childfree decent day today for once and now bloody can't go anywhere. Not that I feel like it.

Trying to avoid my family so they don't get it again.

Hoping all those and their family who have it feel better soon. Fri and sat were grim for me. It's a bugger o have found, you start to feel perkier and then it reminds you otherwise.

unicornsarereal72 · 29/08/2022 07:55

How's everyone today. Day 3 for me and I am feeling really rubbish my everything aches. Really hope this passes quickly

UnaLength · 29/08/2022 08:30

DD (18) tested positive last night. She has a sore throat, high temp and headache. So far, the rest of us are ok but my mum who is 73 and had not had it visited yesterday so not ideal.

Cuppaand2biscuits · 29/08/2022 08:36

DH and I have both been testing since Tuesday as had symptoms. I've just tested again now and still negative. Both feeling really rubbish. Would be 3rd time we've both had it but must be some other illness.

My mum was visiting the day before DH texted positive too. We've been do careful. I've been going to her house on my own to visit but for the first time since Covid started she came to stay for a few days so she could also see the DC and DH.

It's 5 days since she potentially had contact so I'm keeping everything crossed she's OK. Luckily DH was at work most of the time so the contact they had wasn't all that much.

I hope everyone that currently has it feels better again soon.

Now day 18 and I still have a bit of a temp (37.7 so not as bad as it has been), sore throat, earache, tinnitus, no energy, plus still of full of cold and coughing.

A very different experience to when I had Delta (I think I?) last autumn. I was back at work on day 11 then.

I’m a TA so “on holiday”. Rubbish!

FlyingFlamingo · 29/08/2022 11:38

@HenriettaWasSoHappy are you sure you don’t have a secondary throat/ear infection? Day 18 and still running high temps sounds like it might be worth a call to 111?

I’m day 8 of symptoms/day 6 since positive test and tested negative this morning so I’ve managed to get out to a quiet beach for a walk, at least I’ve managed to salvage one last day of my annual leave

VirtualSquid · 30/08/2022 06:10

Flew home after a work trip away on Sunday, tested positive yesterday evening. Feeling pretty grotty but so far it doesn't feel any different to a head cold.

katesbushh · 30/08/2022 12:29

Day 3 for me.
Feel crap
Last night I thought I was over the worst of it but today it has knocked me sideways.

I'm so sick of coughing. My chest is so sore.

unicornsarereal72 · 30/08/2022 15:34

@katesbushh I hear you the cough omg!
