Is this positive or has it somehow smudged? Took 10 minutes ago and left laying flat.

Blimey is that really what people are calling a positive? When I had covid the test line was unmistakable - not an indeterminate shadow possible smudge

The GP and the hospital nurse both told me any line, even if very faint, was ti be classed as positive.

Mine was that faint on the first test. By the evening it was a lot darker. The next day very very dark red.

BabyDreamers · 24/08/2022 19:07

Me for example it tests posite some of the time due to my acid reflux

BabyDreamers · 24/08/2022 19:11

Plus it picked up positive on a cold in me and 3 friends. All negative pcrs.

Clevs · 24/08/2022 19:12

If this was a picture of a pregnancy test everyone would be saying it's positive, a line's a line etc. Those if you saying it's negative need your eyes testing, it's a very obvious positive!

StaunchMomma · 24/08/2022 19:12

Yup.

I'd take another tomorrow. It'll probably be much darker.

elm26 · 24/08/2022 19:13

Thanks everyone I came home from work sick so thought I better test.

I'll test again tomorrow.

Positive

chillipenguin · 24/08/2022 19:17

Make sure you're following the instructions to the letter

We're just moving this over to our covid topic. Flowers

Jules912 · 24/08/2022 19:25

Most likely, but my DS does get false positives that look like that on one brand of tests (annoyingly the most common).

SummerHolidaysAgain · 27/08/2022 18:09

Hi @elm26 what was the outcome? Did you test again the next day?

dudsville · 27/08/2022 18:12

Wow, can you please come back over the coming days with more tests? I wouldn't have thought it was positive so I may have a thing to learn here but I'd really like to see a stronger line, if you don't mind OP?

Gonewiththewindbeforelong · 27/08/2022 18:13

Mine was faint like yours the day before I got a screaming positive line, so I’d say treat it like you’ve got covid, and keep testing. Hope you feel ok OP

elm26 · 27/08/2022 18:29

Thanks everyone

Was strong the following day.

Wow, thanks for the update OP, it's a lesson learned for me, and I hope you don't have too rough a time with it.

But you have a proper test and it's not. It picks up other illness. I know this 100%

What’s your source for this?

Howmanysleepsnow · 28/08/2022 11:42

It doesn’t pick up other illnesses. The antibodies in the test are covid specific.
The antibodies can, however, be denatured by acid which would cause a line (eg citrus juice on the test, or acid reflux as upthread).

SummerHolidaysAgain · 28/08/2022 14:37

Thanks for updating. Hope you are doing ok.
