So I had covid July 2021. At first I could not smell or taste a THING - for a good few months. Eventually I could taste a little bit needed to always have chillis etc. Then everything smelt and tasted like cooking oil - that was worse than not tasting or smelling at all. I am over a year on now and sometimes get a whiff of something but can never know what. I am constantly asking people what is smelling here? I can smell women's sweet perfume but everything else smells burnt. The last couple of days I've been smelling odd smells but a bit more often.

I had covid Easter 2020 and my sense of smell has never recovered. Like you I sometimes get a faint whiff of things but it's unreliable and I find sweet smells like perfume easier to smell. Earthy smells I just don't get eg DH stepped in dog poo and was gagging at the smell. I could smell nothing, not even a hint.

It's called hyposmia. The reduced ability to smell. My sister Ayer has had it for over two years and may be permanent now. She can't smell much of anything. A shame as she loves to cook and bake. Dangerous too as they had a Gad leak snd she couldn't smell it.

I’ve defo heard of smell changes long after having covid

since covid my body odour has changed, my daughter says I smell like Chinese spices. I wish this was a joke but it’s not. I can smell it on myself. Even my pee smells like it!
