Are people still testing

My neighbour wfh and rarely goes out and has text to say she feels achy, headache, couldn't taste food last night or this morning.

She warned me as I've CEV but she's not going to test as she feels there's no point.

I've lost track of the rules anyway as I'm still required to LFT for work but wondered what people were doing generally

I stopped asymptomatic testing several months ago and thereafter tested only for symptoms or if I was going to see someone very vulnerable, like an ECV friend or my parents. We had quite a stockpile of tests (picked up boxes of 20 from the local community larder when the authorities started offloading them after the guidelines changed!) but they gradually dwindled and took the rest of them on holiday (to stay with elderly and vulnerable parents). DM got Covid while we were there Sad and we left them the rest of our tests in case they both got it and needed to know when they could go out again.

Since then I've been parting with actual MONEY for tests 😂but I've actually been symptomatic so it made sense. Glad I bought some because I am now indeed positive. I'd like to know so I don't inadvertently fuck up someone else's summer plans. I don't really get it when people say 'nah, can't be arsed, why would you test?'. Hmm

I’m only testing if I’ve got symptoms or meeting someone vulnerable.

I test if I'm feeling symptoms, have been with someone who has tested positive, or when I'm visiting someone vulnerable e.g. my Mum.

So where are you getting tests? Which ones? Most only have a box spare, unless you are a health care worker.

And have you found an alternative to flowflex please?

I still have tests left, and have used them if I felt unwell or thought I'd been somewhere where I may have picked it up, or seeing elderly relatives etc.

Glad I have been as I went on holiday and had very slight symptoms, but nothing I wouldn't have put down to jetlag or hayfever. I did a test just out of courtesy as I was about to go away again with a large group. I was very strongly positive. I wouldn't have known otherwise and would hate to have made someone else ill.
