How long before you see someone who is CEV?

I'm aware guidance is to isolate for five days, but how long would you leave it before feeling comfortable to visit someone who is CEV?

I live with someone CEV & I wouldn’t let you in the door sooner than the original 2 weeks we were told to isolate, and a negative LFT.

I do realise I’m the extreme end of cautious but my CEV person already has breathing issues and a compromised immune system so I do have to be very cautious.

Minimum 10 days and a negative LFT.

SauvignonBlanche · 14/08/2022 15:35

Guidance is 10 days but agree with PP that should also include a negative LFT

musicandpassion · 14/08/2022 15:36

It took me ten days to get a negative LFT recently so I wouldn't dream of visiting a CEV person before at least 2 weeks. We didn't see my grandmother in the hospital for 3 weeks after we got covid because we couldn't bear the thought of spreading it to her (and everyone else on her ward too!)

My son recently tested positive for 13 days.

findingsomeone · 14/08/2022 16:36

Thanks all.

For context, the person is elderly and depressed. They have very much 'had enough' and I didn't want to speak to them and rearrange without having it clearer in my mind what a 'safe' timeframe is, as I have no doubt they will try and encourage me to visit as usual.

My son recently tested positive for 13 days.

That doesn’t mean you’re infectious all that time.

id wait 10 days before seeing someone old/vulnerable

Nugg · 17/08/2022 06:25

I'm CEV and we've waited 2 weeks with anyone positive and it's worked so far. Had it twice mind you - but nobody else in our family has!!

BronzeSage · 20/08/2022 04:03

@Nugg I think that's best, too.

I'm interested in this thread as we have a CEV family member. Another family member was due to visit them but has just had COVID. They tested negative today (day 6). We've said wait for a negative test on a second day or tomorrow before visiting. Now reading this thread I'm worried. I thought you couldn't pass it on once testing negative? We said second day negative to be doubly sure. How have I misunderstood this?

BeenToldComputerSaysNo · 20/08/2022 16:00

Two weeks and a neg test.
