Did your baby catch covid from you when breastfed?

Just tested positive, and got a little 1 week old. She's breastfed, is she likely to get some protection from my milk?

We all caught it - first the seven year old, then me and DH a few days later, then the breastfed 2 year old a few days after that. He was the only one without any symptoms at all. I'm guessing he had some protection from my vaccines.

We covid when my baby was a week old. We didn’t test him, but he didn’t show any of the main symptoms and was absolutely fine throughout. I didn’t wear a mask to breastfeed (read that somewhere and didn’t like the idea), and nor did we keep our older child away from him - felt she had been through enough upheaval without also being told to stay away from the new arrival. Hope it doesn’t affect you too badly.

I caught it when DC3 was 10 weeks old and EBF. Didn’t test her as we had to isolate anyway but she had zero symptoms. I’d had both jabs while pregnant with her and a booster while bf but no idea if any of that helped! Get well soon.

Yeah we all had it when baby was about a month old, at least I assume baby had it as I didn't test her. She spent the first week of her life in NiCU with respiratory issues so I was pretty panicked, but she was absolutely fine.

My baby caught covid when he was about 5 months old. He was pretty poorly for about a fortnight but was managed at home, he was mostly breastfed during this time and continued to feed well. I had it at the same time and was bad-flu-like unwell for about a fortnight as well, one of the worst illnesses I've had tbh. DH came down with it first and me and baby became ill around the same time, so I think baby actually caught it from DH and not me.

And yes I was breastfeeding and I didn't do anything like wear a mask, I'd already done enough of that in hospital

Not tested the babies but think they both have it as well as me right now. It’s not transferred via breastmilk though so even if you were formula feeding your baby would be likely to catch it from you (close proximity and all that). Your milk should provide some protection for DD.
