Has anyone’s preschooler been quite ill?

My 3.5 yo is on day 4 and really not well. He’s had a persistent fever, awful stomach pains, diarrhoea and now complaining he can’t get warm despite being well wrapped up and actually quite sweaty to touch. I can only find threads talking about how mild it usually is for this age group… just wondering if anyone else’s young child has had it badly and how long it lasted? I need some hope!

If he feels cold, you could give him a hot-water bottle.

The problem is no matter how much we warm him up, he still feels cold.

Is he any better today?

Although my children are older - 9 and 11 - they were also much more unwell with covid than I had been led to believe they would be (and far worse than I was despite us catching the same strain).

Sound advice, make the child with a fever even warmer!

He’s finally through it, thank you @TheoSawUs.
Still very tired and irritable but not in pain/unable to regulate his temperature any more. He was so much worse affected than either me, DH or his older sibling - a bit scary and yes not what I expected at all.

My 2 year old was quite unwell for two days but then better, but my friend's 2 year old was really sick for a good 4-5 days. The days of youngsters breezing through it or being asymptomatic haven't rung true for us of late.

Not a pre-schooler but my 6 year old had a fever for the best part of a week, then really tired for another week or so. Mind you, she was poorly for a whole week with chickenpox too so think she just seems to get everything badly.

My son was a similar age first time round and he was the same. He ended up with a inhaler second time 🙈
