Horrendous sore throat with COVID?

Has anyone else had this HELLISH throat when you have covid?

Sunday I had a temperature and felt rotten. Slight sore throat. Monday and Tuesday felt like I had a rough cold.

Wednesday & Today I’ve literally had the most sore throat I’ve ever had. Pain killers don’t touch it. My voice is only a whisper, it hurts to even swallow water. I’ve tried gargling salt water. I’ve tried numbing throat spray. NOTHING HELPS!

I would say this is less painful than when I had my tonsils out and the cut got infected.

someone tell me they had this with COVID??? How long did it last? What relieved it?

How soon did you all test positive? I've woken up with awful sore throat but negative test just now...

I actually tested negative throughout but DH and the DC were positive, despite the fact that they were only slightly ill and I actually cried from the pain of my throat

@JazzyBBG much better yesterday and today. Today is day 7, fingers crossed I don’t get worse again!

@colouringindoors i felt unwell Saturday night & tested Sunday morning and positive line came up before the control line!! Still a strong positive 7 days on!

I'm on day 3 of testing positive, my throat is horrendous. I flinch everytime I swallow, barely any water gets through, feels red raw, burning, I've had some whopping sore throats in the past but this is another level.

Have tried everything, nothing is touching it. I'm in tears! Which is making the headache worse...everyone I know who has had it recently had such mild symptoms!

Have you tried Ibuprofen? It didn't work at the beginning but it started working from day 5 and 6 for me. I don't normally take 2 doses 200g each, but this time I took 2 doses and it relieved the pain slightly.

I had this, for several days now, it is getting better for sure. It honestly kept me up all night for a couple nights I was in so much pain. To anyone else who is suffering with this I would definitely recommend keeping on top with painkillers and an anaesthetic throat spray!

I've had an annoying cough, scratchy throat and a sort of cold for about 10 days now. Nothing seems to shift it. Some of the symptoms are similar to covid but taken 2 tests are negative and no point seeing doctor

Day 12 and horrendous again!

Day 4 of the sore throat, still testing positive for Covid but no other symptoms.

The pain is getting worse, this is just agony, it's so swollen I can't talk or eat. Sips of water are hell.

I've tried

• paracetamol

-ibuprofen

• soluble aspirin
• naproxen

-gargling salt water

• throat spray

-strepsils

Nothing is even touching the pain! Anyone have any other tips, or just ride it out?
