I know so many threads on here people wanting to know if they might have covid when testing negative - and now I am one of them! I have had migraine headaches at start of week which normal for me but overnight developed sore throat which kind of feels like a lump in throat, and headache (not migraine type) and achy neck. I am tired but whose not in this heat we had?! I did covid test and negative. Anyone neck aches and covid? Kc

I had full on symptoms on a Wednesday with a negative test, a retest on Thursday was a faint but definite positive.
Current strain seems to do this a lot judging by posts on here

My friend felt like that from the Friday, but didn't test positive until the Monday. She was pretty rough with it, but she's much better now (2weeks) (she's mid 50's, very overweight (as am I) & asthmatic, suffers from chest infections etc).

hope you don't feel too bad & are better soon!!

I had symptoms Sunday (sore throat, backache) and didn't get a positive test until Wednesday - and even in this case, 1 brand was totally negative and only the second gave me a faint line. Big fat positive line by thursday so was certainly covid.

RebeccaCloud9 · 20/07/2022 09:56

I've just had covid. Felt really chesty and tired on day 1 - negative test. Same symptoms but worse the next day - strongest positive line I've ever seen!

Test again and then again tomorrow.

AwkwardSquad · 20/07/2022 09:56

I had symptoms from Wednesday afternoon, didn’t test positive until Saturday. Still positive now. So it could well be Covid.

Thanks for your replies. Having a sore throat is my weak spot whenever I have a virus and realize I not had a sore throat for quite sometime. Headache is fussy head but also achy at base at back down into back of neck.

The thing is my hubby much more laid back and I know as negative will think unlikely I have covid But with 1 in 19 having covid it just feels it much more likely to be that, then something else, especially in the summer. And I was at a small concert last weekend for two nights in row (only about 50 in hall) - it was a show my daughter doing.

Just have to see how it goes.

I tested negative initially then 4 days later a strong positive. Unfortunately I took the negative at its word and assumed it was just a bad cold. I went to a number of places before I actually got that positive test.

Lilypeony · 20/07/2022 13:18

Hi

I haven’t been ‘right’ since Thursday (sniffles tad achey) Saturday/Sunday I was in bed all day. Tested negative both days, did another one at work on Monday as I felt shivery and my throat was getting worse also negative. Then bizarrely tested positive Monday night.
it’s the sore throat for me it’s so so painful can’t hardly swallow.

bloomflower · 20/07/2022 13:20

I took a week to test pos, from first symptoms.

I know loads of people around me who are currently ill - whole households with really sore throats, quite a few others with bad coughs, sickness etc. All claim to have done LFTs and tested negative. I strongly suspect some of them have/had covid (many of them know they've been exposed to it in their workplace or classrooms). The Zoe study is finding that currently if you have cold symptoms it's more likely covid than not.

So something isn't adding up - either people not swabbing thoroughly, or just doing one test at the start of symptoms and it being negative so not doing another. Back last winter nearly everyone was testing almost daily, and no end were finding that they didn't test positive until well after their symptoms started, so I suspect lesser testing is giving people a false sense of security. The other possibility is that the LFTs are less sensitive to the newer omicron variants, despite research claiming that to not be the case.

I've had a rough cold for 5 days and tested negative throughout. My daughter has literally been in bed on and off since Monday after having cold symptoms from last Friday. Throughout she has tested negative. Maybe there is a summer bug going around? Who knows.

I'm probably going to get blasted on here from a few for testing but I was around elderly relatives and my daughter was surrounded by friends going on holidays. x

Mumto3children · 20/07/2022 17:26

I was poorly 5 days before I tested positive anyone else been really sweaty with covid ????

Mumto3children · 20/07/2022 17:27

Covid , arghhh anyone else got covid now ? I feel awful didn’t test positive for a couple of days after I started feeling ill, anyone else feeling rubbish ?

tootsierubs · 20/07/2022 17:32

Tested positive yesterday evening despite having symptoms since Sunday and two negative tests. Sore throat, very high temperature, body aches, hacking cough, tight chest. Had a headache at the start too. Feel absolutely horrible. Get well soon to anyone else currently struggling with this.

DaisyDozyDee · 20/07/2022 17:36

My husband has had much worse symptoms than me this week. He’s testing negative, but my test is positive. It’s pretty clear we both have it, but it’s just not showing on his tests for some reason.

Passthebubbly · 20/07/2022 17:44

Exact same symptoms as you I was negative yesterday strong positive today. Hope you are ok x

LightandFruity · 20/07/2022 22:03

Thought I was starting with a cold on Monday, tested negative Monday then positive this morning.
So far not too bad. Just usual cold symptoms which I hope don’t get much worse.
Work in a hospital so tested at the start of symptoms because I would hate to pass anything on to vulnerable members of the public or my elderly relatives.

Sitdowncupoftea · 20/07/2022 22:07

I've had a real bad headache , earache , sore throat , sore eyes I'm nearly two weeks in with a full blown cold not covid. I've tested negative 3 times.

Kcc73 · 21/07/2022 08:03

Morning, thanks for sharing your experiences. Day 2 still horrid sore throat, headache, leg aches and feel lousy, but negative LFt again.

Reading through beginning to think that actually maybe there are other 'nasties' going around. Just with it being summer, I know colds are common all yr but fluy stuff less so; but treating as covid for now until neg couple more days.
