Covid and periods

Hi all
bit of an odd one- caught covid early July and on day 2 I got my period (timing?!) It was lighter than normal with no clots but lasted 5 days. It’s now two weeks later and my period has come again and so far seems heavier, like normal. Has anyone experienced any weirdness like this? I tried to call the doctor but no joy so will try again tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else’s period was weirdly affected like this. For clarity I am triple vaccinated.
thanks!

My covid period was REALLY light, especially compared to the previous month. I’ve not had another yet though so can only give half a story I’m afraid.

Ontomatopea · 20/07/2022 21:33

Yes it can cause period weirdness.

PestoPasghetti · 20/07/2022 21:35

The vaccines messed with my periods. I think I'm back to normal now but had months of very extreme PMT and their timings went all to pot.

The day I tested positive my period started. I had not had one for 6 MONTHS (menopausal). It was exceptionally heavy. I then had my next one 28 days later, with all the usual PMS symptoms I’d forgotten about as I’ve not had them for years (spots! Sore boobs!) Basically it’s un-menopaused me.

So yes covid seems to do crazy things to the menstrual cycle.

Very common with COVID (and covid vaccinations). It'll probably be years before concrete research is published to confirm (women's health underfunded etc). Hope normality is back for you soon. Take care Flowers

Vaccines and Covid messed with my cycles massively, they were all over the
place for 1-2 months after each. In fact after Covid I think it took four months to go back to normal ish and I’ve always been like clockwork

perimenofertility · 20/07/2022 21:55

Yes, covid brought me an early period too! No heavier or lighter but a week early. Strange!

missymarrk · 20/07/2022 23:27

So strange- just tested positive today, haven't bled for a few months and boom, massive bleed today.

HangryHangryHippo · 20/07/2022 23:33

I also had a period that came on at the same time as having covid. The next one was so heavy I needed medication to stop it and ended up with a 2 night stay in hospital for a blood transfusion! No history of period weirdness and all tests are fine so far. Gynae Dr said that he hadn’t heard of a link with covid.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 21/07/2022 07:58

I was having bleeding a week after my period that I put down to Covid. Turns out I have a polyp on the neck of my womb. And my endometriosis is back. Don't just put it down to Covid.

Thanks all & yes wont just assume it’s covid but was curious. It feels and looks like one but will definitely double check. ❤️
