When are you planning to get a booster?

DC 1 2nd vaccination in December
DC2 1st in Jan, Covid, 2nd in May.
I had my booster in December.

Wondering about the best time to get a booster.
Before the Dc go back in August?
Wait and see if there's an Autumn wave and wait til they bring back masks etc? (Already in most health settings around where I live)
What are you planning to do?

There are no 4th boosters for the general public at the moment, unless you are CEV or over 75.

Speak to your GP about your DC.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/07/2022 07:07

i am planning to wait until contacted

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 12/07/2022 07:08

Surely they'll contact everyone like the other times?

MuffinMcLayLikeABundleOfHay · 12/07/2022 07:09

You can't can you? There are no fourth boosters or any boosters for children at all.

Numbat2022 · 12/07/2022 07:11

We can't get boosters. It looks like over 50s will be offered them in autumn, but so far no plans for everyone to have one.

I'll take whatever they offer - am 40 and would very happily have an autumn one. We're getting a wave of high cases every three months.

dementedpixie · 12/07/2022 07:12

What age are your children?
Don't think under 16s are eligible for a booster (certainly aren't in Scotland)
My Ds will get his booster when he turns 16
Dd is 18 and has had 3 vaccines already

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 12/07/2022 07:14

I will wait until I an contacted, I don’t think they’re available on demand here.

TrogLaDyte · 12/07/2022 07:34

DS is 12 and already had his invite, but we didn't bother as it was coming up to summer, vaccines are a drama <-- understatement and the numbers were low.

As far as I understand it, where I am currently over 80's and CEV over 12 can have a second booster, or you can pay for it privately if you need it for e.g. travel. (I.e. if your Covid certificate is out of date and you need a valid one) DS and mine will expire in September, DC2 is valid til next Jan.

Where are you that you can pay for a covid booster? I don't think that's an option in the UK.
Boosters currently have no expiry date.

KnittingNeedles · 12/07/2022 08:34

Like others, I'll wait until I'm called. Not particularly concerned. I have had all of the jabs I've been offered (lost count, think i've had 3) and had Covid in March. I am 50 so might fall into the group called for an autumn booster and might not, depending where they draw the line.

However you look at it, it's not something you can choose to do if it's not being offered to your group.

pinklavenders · 12/07/2022 09:13

In which country do you live, op?

Jules912 · 12/07/2022 10:50

I'm under 50 so had one booster in December and don't expect to be offered another.

ApplesandBunions · 12/07/2022 14:18

I hadn't heard anything about paying privately. Won't be bothering with that, but if I am offered another by the NHS, which would be my 4th covid jab, I've no objection. Don't really mind when.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 12/07/2022 15:08

I'm not. I'm not anti-vax by any stretch of the imagination but I'm not having repeated boosters, not least because they make me feel very ill.

gogohmm · 12/07/2022 15:10

In the U.K. boosters have no expiry, under 16's aren't being offered boosters unless vulnerable

TenoringBehind · 13/07/2022 07:54

As soon as I’m offered one, which I expect will be in the autumn. I have a few friends who have been recruited as vaccinators for a mass roll out of combined Covid and flu boosters for the over 50s starting September 1st.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/07/2022 20:22

I've had 3 and won't be rushing to have any more. Thankfully at this stage I won't be offered it.

Shinyandnew1 · 13/07/2022 20:24

Which country are you in that your vaccine expires and you can buy a booster?

Ilikewinter · 13/07/2022 20:27

Im not having a booster, ive decided im like typhoid mary, just about everyone I know has had covid, I worked in a community pharmacy throughout the lockdowns etc and now based in an office, loads of work colleagues off sick and I STILL haven't caught it!

Were is it you can get it privately because I don't know any private providers in the UK that are offering boosters
