Rocky2022 · 09/07/2022 07:48

So I tested positive today for the 1st time. Just wondering what kind of ride people had with the current variant. Especially interested in over 50s with pre existing conditions. I have mild asthma and I am heavier than I should be.
So far I have had to up my inhaler use a little and have had sore throat, cough, runny nose etc. Also fatigue.
Thank you

I got my very first positive test this morning too! It's been going around work and I felt a bit like I have a cold coming in so tested before visiting vulnerable family. So far a mild sore throat and a little light headed and sniffily but nothing that would have made me test if it hadn't been going around.

I hope you're not too poorly with it and watching replies with interest x

Same, my head is banging and I’ve vomited several times, exhausted from lack of sleep.

Rocky2022 · 09/07/2022 11:59

First positive test yesterday - I’m 57. Started with heartburn on Wednesday, then sore throat and all over aches on Thursday. I’m very lethargic, one minute hot and sweaty, the next shivery. The sore throat has got worse and is very painful at night. I’m not short of breath and although I feel rough it’s not as bad as flu which I’ve had twice in my life. I’m on day 3/4 since onset of symptoms and really hoping it doesn’t get any worse.

Mybeautifulfriend22 · 09/07/2022 17:08

I’m on day two of symptoms tested positive today. Feel like I’ve gone through them all!
yesterday was sore throat and cough then
overnight I had temps/shivering and aching started. The aching is from my head to toes. The fatigue has started too. Luckily paracetamol and ibruprofen regularly are now helping.

Runny nose/sneezing has started, sore throat gone but cough minimal. No concentration either.

The muscle and joint aches have been the worse bit , so sore! But no severe symptoms so far.

I'm just over it - my first Covid. Mid 50s, overweight and asthmatic but well controlled.

It floored me for a couple of days and I slept pretty much through. Sore'ish throat but manageable, runny nose, lots of phlem.

I'm amazed it didn't go to my chest, most things do and it was my main fear with covid. But nothing.

Overall took a week to get through the runny nose, sore throat, fatigue thing and eventually test negative.

Only just got my sense of taste back - still a slight metallic thing going on though. My appetite was shot for a while - every cloud ..... 😀

Good luck OP.

I dosed up on those fizzy vitamin c tablets that you drop into water.

I'm just over my first ever dose. I'm late 40s and I have severe asthma and catch several colds a year which always result in chest and sinus infections, sometimes needing hospitalisation. Covid was an absolute breeze by comparison. I didn't need any of my usual big hitter asthma interventions, nor did I develop a bacterial infection in chest or sinuses. I appreciate this might simply be a fluke of luck but it was very mild indeed and I only felt a lilting bit under the weather for a day or two (I'd only tested because I was due to visit an elderly relative in hospital and was so surprised to see the double lines!) Basically a day of scratchy throat and a sniffle (although I am still awaiting the return of full smell/ tasting capacity!) Hoping you too have an easy ride.

CardinalCat · 09/07/2022 17:36

What I did- vitamins c and d, NAC 600 mg twice a day, quercertin and melatonin and magnesium in the evening. Lots and lots of fluids and I also did regular sinus flushing and facial steaming. I didn't even need paracetamol.

Rocky2022 · 09/07/2022 18:33

Thank you everyone.

50 and overweight here. Tested positive 29/6. Terrible cough and heavy cold symptoms. Bad for 3 days really but still a bit phlegmy. Tested negative after 10 days.

Tumbleweed101 · 09/07/2022 19:15

I've started to feel worse from this morning. Cold and shivery now. Niggily headache. Has the feel of flu more than a cold now. Felt more like a cold this morning. Weird.

FAQs · 09/07/2022 19:37

@Rocky2022 has your husband stopped being sick, I can’t seem to keep any water down, managed a bit of soup and the room span.

Rocky2022 · 09/07/2022 19:40

@FAQs sorry to hear that. He only vomited at the start and has subsequently been ok. Hope it improves.

I'm feeling a lot better today. My over riding symptoms have been headcold - runny nose, blocked nose, headache and just complete exhaustion. I never nap or sleep in the day but have every day this week. I feel ok in myself but when I do a job I need a rest after. Thankfully so far it hasn't gone to my chest and I don't have a cough.

JustDanceAddict · 14/07/2022 09:31

Im 50, triple jabbed on day 6 counting first day of symptoms as day 1.
still feel rough, sore throat has gone but im snotty and sooo wiped out. Temp is still a bit high too although it fluctuates.
Tested and line still dark.

sonjadog · 14/07/2022 12:48

I am asthmatic and overweight and now had covid twice. Both times I have only been feeling ill for 3-4 days. The fatigue has lasted longer though and comes and goes. My main concern before getting it was my chest due to my asthma, but surprisingly neither of the times I have had it has my chest been affected. Nor have I had cold symptoms beyond a very slight runny nose.

Emmelina · 14/07/2022 12:58

I’m 3 days in to my second bout. Headachy, sinus-y. Sore throat. Bit of a cough. Weird achiness, and sometimes feels like I’m being jabbed with a pin. Also asthmatic, but touch wood it hasn’t affected my chest at all so far.
I suspect I caught it from our emergency sleepover guest at the weekend, who had similar symptoms to those I have now but whose mother apparently tested and “they definitely don’t have covid” 🤔

AhaLyn · 15/07/2022 16:27

@Emmelina I’m not glad that you have those symptoms but I’m weirdly glad someone else has mentioned the jabbing feeling. I’ve had so much of that it’s made me cry a couple of times, full on stabbing shooting pains in different parts of the body.

Readysteadife · 15/07/2022 16:35

How long are you all having symptons / testing positive?

Rocky2022 · 15/07/2022 16:47

Still positive on day 6 but feeling much better although still breathless on exertion. I am asthmatic.
