Cotton Wool Bud to swab the nose?

DS has had strong positives all week but we've fouled that many swabs (he is 9 and couldn't manage to put his tongue down for more than a nano second) can I swab his nose with a cotton wool bud and expect a reliable result?

He's negative but can I trust it? Strong positive yest. He's been well since Monday.

Half the house don't have covid and would like to stay negative but we are getting fed up with masking at home now.

It was positive so that's a yes...I thought the bleached cotton may interfere!!!

I know it is too late now but aren't most of the tests nasal only ones now? If you still have the very original ones that are nose and throat you can use them just as nasal only swabs as long as you do each nostril five times (advised by a doctor for a child same age as yours with same issue of not being able to tolerate the throat swab))
