Anyone had a bad tummy during and after Covid?

I do already suffer from IBS.
I tested positive last Wednesday and had a few days feeling poorly (high temp, very sore throat, sweats, aches etc) but tummy was ok.
However, on Saturday I had an upset tum and it hasn’t settled since. I’ve been going to the loo a couple of times a day and everything feels griped and I feel quite nauseous.
I am going back to work tomorrow and now anxious as I don’t want a bad stomach as I drive as part of a job.
I can’t work out if this is an IBS flare or normal for some people with Covid, I’m still testing a strong positive so not sure if I’m still harbouring the virus?
Dh and dd both had Covid at the same time as me but their stomachs have been fine.
Anyone else’s digestive systems off?

Yes, that was the worst thing last time I had it

Thanks PurpleDaisies my digestive system is my ‘weak’ area so it’s inevitable it would hit hard there - urgh!

I have just had covid for the first time this last week and also suffered with an upset tummy for several days (along with all the other usual symptoms). I was very sick all day Saturday and Sunday and completely lost my appetite. Today is the first day I've managed something to eat. My husband has been fine stomach-wise but my two boys both had a couple of days of loose stools, feeling sick and low appetite.

TheBeastReleased My appetite has completely gone too.

Yes it's my weak point too and a bad tummy was my only symptom. It was also DC's main symptom, the weird stools lasted about 10 days, which is unheard of for him. We started getting worried he caught something bacterial and had a sample sent off but nothing to report, just Covid.
Hope you feel better soon.

Sickness was my daughters first symptom, she got the cough today and tested positive

MrsAvocet · 06/07/2022 22:27

Yes, very much so.
DS and I both tested positive 10 days ago and are well now otherwise (and testing negative)but still have upset stomachs. DS has a lot of food allergies and intolerances so when he had diarrhoea first I just thought it was that he had eaten something he shouldn't have, but after about 24 hours he had classic covid symptoms and I had gone the same way. It's settling now, but still not right.

My brother, friend and work colleagues who have recently had covid have all had a bad stomach. For one guy it was the only symptom

Ruby0707 · 07/07/2022 10:02

Yes! I have IBS too but this is different. It's that griping pain you described each time I go.

Started on about day 4 and still happening daily. I'm on day 10 now.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 07/07/2022 10:05

It’s been a recognised symptom for a long time.

IdiotCreatures · 07/07/2022 10:09

Day four here and IBS sufferer, would definitely say my stomach is not a happy bunny today...

redhearts · 07/07/2022 10:14

I tested postive Tuesday and my kids are unwell too. DD has had diarrhoea now for 3 days. I came on here looking to see how long to expect this to last and I'm shocked for some it has lasted 10 days! How awful!

TomAllenWife · 07/07/2022 10:15

Yes this is how my second bout of covid started.
Thought it was campylobacter but second week had stinking cold, cough, sweats etc

3 weeks on my bowels still not normal.

Mad how different it's been to original variant

WheredidIputmymarbles · 07/07/2022 15:00

Thanks all. Good to know I’m not the only one with this as I was getting quite worried but sorry you are all suffering too.

Had norovirus like symptoms for the duration. On Day 7 now and still got griping tummy pains as well as flu symptoms still.

Neowwwm · 07/07/2022 15:28

My worst Covid symptoms was indigestion/heartburn, I took stomach ulcer treatment as it reminded me of when I had one years ago. I'm Day 11, testing negative but had an overwhelming urge to rush to the toilet today, there's nothing unusual or risky in my diet to trigger this. I still have cough and congestion so though I'm negative I'm still feeling the virus.

Riverlee · 07/07/2022 15:29

My dh did (and his lost half a stone). Ds and me - no. All had covid in the last couple of weeks, so presume had the same strain.

Bloops · 07/07/2022 15:30

I could have written this myself. I'm exactly the same.

madmumofteens · 07/07/2022 20:09

I had terrible stomach cramps on day 3 of having Covid 🥺
