Will these tests work now? The original ones with the dropper?

My DS has Covid at the moment. We’ve now run out of free tests, but I do have 8 of the original type tests, well within date.

these were the ones where you add the vial of liquid to the tube yourself, then swab nose and throat.

will they still be useable for current variants?

Yes, but I've found that some of the distilled water has evaporated and you may find there's not enough to get the test to work if you use the "dropper" lid. Try tipping the water into the test window instead to keep as much water as possible.

@PineappleWilson funny as that’s just what I’ve had to do - but how the heck can it evaporate - surely the vial is sealed! I thought the same thing though. Control line has worked so fingers crossed it was enough.
