Covid

Can I send DS to nursery if I have covid?

I've just tested positive for covid. DS I just over 1 so I can't do a covid test on him (he barely lets me wipe his nose) but he has no symptoms. Could I still send him to nursery tomorrow or should I keep him home until I'm better? Sorry if this has already been asked before.

Has he had it before? If not he’s almost certainly going to get it in the next few days and with the current strain you can be quite infectious before you show symptoms, so if you’re not testing him it’s not really fair to send him in. Probably lots of others in his group haven’t had it yet - nobody will thank you if he infects them all. Are you well enough to look after him?

It can’t hurt to cal up nursery today an ask though - I’m sure they have their own procedures and will know if any staff are vulnerable etc.

Thanks, yes I'd better ring them. He's not had it before

Do you have a partner? I'd be testing him tbh (I know it's no fun, but my little ones have had more tests than I can count), but it might take two adults when he's awake. Or at that age you could do it while he's asleep.

I wouldn't appreciate other parents not testing their DC and sending them in when there's covid in the house, especially at this time of year when it has scope to ruin holidays etc.

Thanks - I've not kept up to date on anything covid related for a good 6 months so it's so helpful being able to check with j all
