It’s making me nervous now because I feel like I still don’t know how my body would cope with it

I'm literally the only person I know who hasn't had it yet! I've been exposed on multiple occasions, including sharing a bed with my own covid positive dc however I don't think I have any magic immunity, I think I've just been lucky up until now. Having been pretty laid back about covid until now I'm actually really stressed out about catching it. Not because I think I'd be seriously ill but because I think I might feel pretty bad and I have so much on my plate at the moment!

I had completely escaped it.....

Until a week ago. Grrrrrrrr

StiggyZardust · 04/07/2022 15:21

Having avoided it for so long, finally tested posting Friday.
Feeling horrible, high temperature, headache and the cough has arrived.
Very disappointing.

My DH and I haven't had it to our knowledge. I did a couple of antibody tests in the first year which were negative and many PCRs at work all negative. One adult DD has not had it either, the other has had it twice. My elderly inlaws haven't had it, and neither has my older brother. Most of DH's siblings and their spouses haven't had it either. I had an absolutely vile cold/virus in February which I was convinced must be it but several tests of various types came back negative. Until recently most of my work colleagues had escaped but I think in recent weeks the majority have had it, so I think it must be a matter of time for me.

our household finally succumbed a week ago. DS just felt a bit off it, but me and DP felt very ill for a few days. I’m not too bad now but don’t think DP will be well enough to return to work this week.

Not that I know if (may have and been asymptomatic). I have friends triple vaxxed who have had it twice, one who is far more cautious than me!

LovinglifeAF · 04/07/2022 22:58

I thought I was immune to it as there had been so many times I thought I must have it. Or situations when I assumed I would get it

finally got it 4 weeks ago

mariebaby3 · 04/07/2022 23:02

I haven’t had it and am the only one out of a household of 5! No idea how I’ve managed to escape it for long as I’ve been a close contact numerous times (sat next to someone who had it for an hour in a meeting 3 weeks ago - unknowingly of course). DS has just tested positive again today so preparing for round two and wondering if this time I won’t be so lucky. I’m the same as you though OP, still quite anxious as I don’t know how It’ll affect me.

You might have been asymptomatic. I never had it knowingly, but I am around a lot of people both in my job and privately. My partner has only very few contacts. Still some time ago, he had a faint positive when he had to do a test for work, and he had no symptoms at all. I tested negative each day, although we still shared a bed. My theory is that I was the one that picked up Covid but didn't realise because I was asymptomatic and then passed it on to him. When he randomly discovered that he's positive, my infection probably had passed already. I know a lot of other people who never felt any symptoms and just discovered that they were positive when they had to do a test.
