I know they’ve said this new variant is more transmissible.

How long after exposure have you tested positive? (If you knew when you were exposed etc).

I don’t know when I was exposed but I work in a primary school. Started feeling ill on Thursday. Tested negative Thursday and Friday morning so went to work as normal. Tested again Friday evening and got a clear positive straight away. I have sickness, headache, high temp, cough and sore throat. Feel really bad.

Unsure, but I have not had any no mask contact in over two weeks and then it was only at the dentist.

I was in close contact with my neighbour on the Wednesday and Thursday. I started feeling ill Saturday night and tested positive on Sunday afternoon when I decided to take a test.

Dh started feeling ill Friday or Saturday, last week. Don't know for sure where he caught it but he was at a works do on Tuesday evening which seems a likely contender.

I became ill on Monday - he has been my only contact.

So I would guess there is about a 3 day incubation period.

DH went out last Fri to a pub in town, he started with cold symptoms/cough on Sun but tested negative. Then positive Monday morning, so potentially 36hrs for symptoms and another 24 for positive test? DS then tested positive on Wed am and me on Wed eve.

48 hours

Seeingadistance · 02/07/2022 21:48

I spent Monday afternoon at a friend’s house. I tested positive that night and she tested positive on Thursday morning. Her DH and DS tested positive on Friday.

Blogdog · 02/07/2022 22:03

48 hours in my case as well.

GG1986 · 02/07/2022 22:47

I went to a wedding on a saturday, started feeling ill on the wednesday after, tested everyday and was negative, tested sunday as was due in work monday and i was positive!

Extratoebeans · 02/07/2022 23:32

Dd2 tested positive Saturday, Dd1 then tested positive Monday, DH Tuesday then me Thursday. So 48 hours potentially a bit more depending on who caught it from who.

Tipsylizard · 03/07/2022 16:18

I was at a big.meeting on Tuesday- started feeling ill on Friday - tested negative. Tested again on Saturday and it was a positive straight away so 3 days in my case.

Holymole · 03/07/2022 16:21

notprincehamlet · 03/07/2022 22:01

Started with a sore throat two days after a four-hour mask-free flight, did a test the next day and it was positive

AntlerRose · 03/07/2022 22:05

for us its been 2 to 3 days, but testing positive the day after starting to feel ill. So quick.

KnottyKnitting · 03/07/2022 22:05

DH joined me on holiday a few weeks ago. Arrived on the weds evening. I started to feel fluey 12 hours later and he started to feel chills less than 48 hours after he arrived. Both of us tested with a big fat positive the following morning.

liliainterfrutices · 03/07/2022 22:08

XenoBitch · 04/07/2022 10:09

Was in car with someone with symptoms on Friday. Felt grotty on Saturday, and tested positive on Sunday.

shinynewapple22 · 04/07/2022 10:59

Sounds like people aren't testing positive until the day after they first get symptoms then. I wonder at what point you are contagious?

rosyvalentine · 04/07/2022 11:16

On a flight last Sunday evening. Wasn't feeling great by Tuesday night. Cold symptoms, sore throat and sneezing on Wednesday. Tested negative Wednesday and Thursday and got a clear positive on Friday morning. Now over the worst and not feeling too bad today.

pinklavenders · 04/07/2022 11:24

I read that you're most contagious in the 2 days even before testing positive and the following 2-3 days.

TheScottishPlay · 04/07/2022 11:33

DS went to his school formal Friday 24/6, unwell by Sunday and tested positive on Monday 27/6.
DH unwell on the same day and positive on 28/6.
I became unwell on 29/6 and positive later that night. I think by the time DS was positive DH and I were already infected so isolation, cleaning etc was useless.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/07/2022 07:46

Two days from having a COVID positive people blowing right up my nose....though to be fair they were probably positive a day or do earlier. Their dad and both children tested positive on Thursday after being out and about on Saturday together. I was negative on Thursday and positive by Sunday. Who knows which of them caught it first but it wasn't me!

CatLadyDrinksGin · 07/07/2022 16:38

Exposed Saturday evening, positive Tuesday morning.
