Is there anything that tasted/smelt normal to you?

Have just had my first positive result and thankfully have managed with other symptoms - though feeling chesty, tired and rundown.

I have absolutely lost appetite though and cannot taste anything "normally".

Things I would normally go to when poorly (soup, juice, toast) are just "rank"

I can't taste anything but am also hungry - anyone got a "go-to-food" that worked for them?

I’ve just been trying to eat as normally as possible without making too much effort - comfort foods like toast means I can almost conjure up the mental note of how it tastes! If you’re not fancying anything then might be best to just keep the fluids up. How about salty crisps?

I’ve been testing positive since Monday and today was the first day my taste and smell came back a bit, thankfully.

Only things that tasted ok were sweet iced tea (homemade not Lipton), miso soup and anything super spicy.

I'd assume because of excessive sweetener, excessive umami/ salt and because spice is pain receptors not tastebuds. I loved on spicy miso soup and the iced tea for a while. Sometimes forced down some juice for vitamins.

Ready salted crisps. I couldn't really taste them, but I knew there were salty and I liked crunching them.

I remember eating a yogurt and finding it repulsive without the flavour, like spooning mayo into my mouth.

Thanks - it's interesting that the only things I've been craving are very salty or very sweet! Love Ice Tea so will give that a try
