How long till we catch it … if at all

My DS tested positive on lateral flows yesterday although he’s been feeling I’ll since Thursday. It’s strange as he was sick so we assumed it was a tummy bug then on Friday morning he started coughing etc and had temp he feels quite bad but is managing. We have had covid 3 or 4 times in our house on separate occasions. ONe of the kids has had it twice now as has my husband. My eldest son is now on his second time getting it. Me and middle DS have only had it once .. that we knows of! Anyway… just wondered if recently when one of your kids has got it how long till you got it at all and if you got it have you had it before? I’m just worried I’ll get it as the last time it was in our house was Jan and I didn’t get it. Also how long it took you to test positive? I did a lateral flow just now and it’s negative

It took my dd 3 days to get it from me. I tested negative on day 6, which I thought was surprisingly early.

DS tested positive 3 days after DF, even though he isolated after the positive test. I didn’t get it at all.

I tested positive today, toddler on Wednesday. Although definitely had it since at least Monday.

Toddler tested negative yesterday 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks I wonder if I will get it though as my toddler literally coughed several times in my face and we shared a bed when he had it and I never got it!

When I got it, none of the family picked it up. Dh and I shared a bed throughout. I avoided hugging him and the dc but we had no choice about sharing a bathroom. Dd went on to catch Covid at school a couple of months later but again, the rest of the family managed to avoid it.

I wonder if there is a different variant going around as the way it is affecting my DS is so different to other times we have had had it in our house… it’s more like a tummy bug for him, he vomited once has completely gone off his food… he does have a cough but it’s not that bad but when I ask him what is bothering him more he says it’s his stomach!

Have you been isolating your ds and still caught it or just as normal ? So took only a few days for your dh and other child to test positive
My boss at work is off with sickness bug and I wonder if it is actually covid as another colleague tested positive yesterday evening after being at work all day
Im due to fly on holiday in 5 days and wondering if I am going to get it wether it will show before , now off at home so not due back in the office at all so no more mixing but damage may already be done

Notmytiep · 21/06/2022 09:33

Took me 3 weeks to catch it from DH and I wasn't even trying not to catch it. At one point I thought I was invincible. Took DS about a week or so

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 21/06/2022 09:34

I've had it since last Wednesday and as of yesterday DH is still negative.... Will he escape?
Place your bets here!

To be honest we have not been isolating too much as they are all still too young. I slept in the same bed as both children that have it… we are now 5 days since DS first had symptoms and I am still testing negative so there is a chance you will be ok! In jan my youngest child has covid and coughed literally in my face and slept in same bed as me etc and I never got it and had a Pcr Too !

@Notmytiep more likely you caught of your ds then if he had it a week after your dh
When you in same house I always think it can take a while as your with them all the time so if contagious for 10 days then possibly you catch it from them on the last day somehow

worriedatthistime · 21/06/2022 12:57

@Keepgoing88 yes i have caught it twice already when it was in household although weeks apart and first time only detected on a pcr and no symptoms
Never caught it when ds2 had it before that, and never caught of my auntie when she had it although that was only shortly after I had it
Been near some people who I think have had it as well and they have just not tested so fingers cross , I avoid it this time . Will test from tomorrow until holiday as can't see i could have it yet when contact was only yesterday
