Just wondering if you feel ok to work but the lat flow show's positive?

I imagine yes - you are infectious

MardyBra · 11/06/2022 18:30

yes

BanjoVio · 11/06/2022 18:31

Yes, obviously you are infectious 🤦🏼‍♀️ Coronaviruses are so successful because people often have no symptoms and then merrily go spreading them about.

OutDamnedSpot · 11/06/2022 18:32

Of course you’re infectious.

MyVoiceCounts · 11/06/2022 18:32

The guidance says to limit contact with others for 5 days precisely because you will be infectious.

GreenCard · 11/06/2022 18:33

Yes

Summerwhereareyou · 11/06/2022 18:39

Sorry to be clearer, you have been ill with Corona but feel better by day 6 but test still has a.line?

Again, yes. That’s why you’re meant to stay in for 10 days while the line is still positive or two days after it’s turned negative, whichever is sooner.

MajorieEks · 11/06/2022 18:52

I’d be interested to know how many people follow the guidance and how many ignore it

Summerwhereareyou · 11/06/2022 19:08

Banjo it's not ten days anymore though.

I've got COVID now I think it's from a colleague who came in whilst still infectious as they still had symptoms.

I've been told if I feel well, go in. No mention of tests at all.

Yes. That’s the whole point of LFTs. If there is still a line, you are still infectious. The 5 day thing is just arbitrary, many people are still infectious after 5 days.

Yes

LFTs aren't very sensitive and so show a positive result typically when someone has a very high viral load

Obviously if work are telling you to come in there's nothing you can do, but personally I'd wear a mask and avoid things unless essential.

SloppyHousekeeper · 12/06/2022 16:06

I tested positive on pcr test but lateral flow tests have always been negative so I think I must have mild covid that lft are not registering. So I would say you should stay home if you can.

I need to do lft on day 6 &7 I think if they are both negative I can go to work. If positive keep doing until 2 negative done 24 hours apart. If I am not testing stay home for 10 days.

I have absolutely no symptoms so feels strange to be isolating but I am as don't want to spread it.

But my son is going into school. As per the rules he is not testing and has no symptoms so still going to school.

MummyToBe2022 · 12/06/2022 16:37

@SloppyHousekeeper I too have had covid and ltf were negative but pcr was positive, didn't have the common symptoms but work asked me to get tested just in case because I had an awful stomach bug.

I rung 111 as I wasn't sure what to do with the day 5 rule as I never had a positive ltf.
They said I had to do the full 10 days but I know that this is conflicting advice but just thought I'd chip in and let you know what I was informed to go.

SloppyHousekeeper · 12/06/2022 17:47

@MummyToBe2022 thank you very much for this information. That makes sense to me. I will speak to my boss tomorrow. A weekly pcr is done in my work on a Tuesday I think it would be good if I could do that (without entering my work) and then could go back the next day if negative. Otherwise wait 10 days. Last time I spoke to my work I was told the others with covid were also negative on lft

j712adrian · 12/06/2022 17:58

Yes

Pinkbottles · 03/07/2022 15:51

Hi, I’ve had covid pretty badly and still feel ill. I’m on day 16 and still testing positive on a lateral flow. Do you think there’s any risk I’m contagious?
