Hightened taste

This is so weird, I'm so ill, 6 days of symptoms and getting worse!
I haven't lost my taste or smell, it's like it's all heightened...had rocky road bars which just tastes like cocoa powder and my cups of tea just taste so tea'y', like a builders tea but just my normal cup!

I've got those but it came on months after covid. Can't eat red onion or egg anymore as they just taste so STRONG. I'm assuming it's a version of parosmia, and it could be worse..

Something a bit like it, that has freaked me out. Instead of losing a sense of smell, I can smell everything to the tiniest degree from a normal distance for what it is. I could smell 'old' water in the bathroom, probably under the shower tray (not happened before). I can smell weird details in food, which has switched off my appetite for most things. The microwave smells of hot plastic. The strangest thing was smelling...paper, in the pages of a book; not a very new book, that I have had for ages.
This happened to some extent when I was pregnant, so was convinced this had happened again, but this has now been disproved with a late Aunt Flo. There are other symptoms afoot, although I thought they were shingles rather than Covid, but now I am not so sure. Massive morning anxiety earlier this week, too, that kept coming back but that was much more ok by the afternoon. It feels like a bad trip.

Hi, thanks for the replies.
Yes it's like being pregnant again! So strange and has also brought a period along with it too, something I've not had for a while!

@Ormally I am exactly the same, it's so weird. Symptoms started very late Saturday night, tested positive Monday.

@lawandgin I'm sad for you, but bloody relieved for me in a way, I have been thinking I'm going mad. I wasn't keen on that as a pregnancy symptom but this far exceeds that experience. Smelling book pages from 2 feet away?? Crazy. Taste is slightly affected and I have no appetite, but not to the extent it could be.
