Just wondering whether this has been shown on television news. Only seen this here: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/05/28/astrazeneca-vaccine-may-increase-risk-serious-neurological-condition/

OP posts:

I've not seen it but it's not new
www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/concerns/guillain-barre-syndrome.html

Apparently putting vaccines into humans can have bad outcomes for some of them.

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 29/05/2022 12:15

All vaccines can have side effects for some. Long Covid has destroyed my family's life - dp got it in May 2020 (so no vaccines or tests) and is still utterly disabled by it.
1000s of similar cases. Hardly talked about anywhere in the media.

Testina · 29/05/2022 12:22

I’m sorry to hear about your boyfriend, but I disagree that there is no coverage of Long Covid in the media.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 29/05/2022 12:23

I’ve heard of this for years. It’s a risk (small but serious) with all vaccines. Still better to be vaccinated statistically though.

Mistlewoeandwhine · 29/05/2022 12:23

Long Covid is talked about. I know several people with it too. I think it is unfortunately quite common.

Afternoon all. We've now moved this thread over to the Covid topic.

MassiveOverthinker · 29/05/2022 23:02

I'm not sure you can count this but UK Column reported on this on 17th April 2021 www.ukcolumn.org/video/the-harsh-reality-of-vaccine-adverse-effects. They were then suspended from YouTube.

Subsequently it was listed as a recognised side effect in both Europe www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/eu-lists-rare-nerve-disorder-possible-side-effect-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-2021-09-08/ and the UK www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-adds-nerve-disorder-rare-side-effect-astrazeneca-covid-19-vaccine-2021-10-21/

(FWIW I totally agree that it appears incredibly rare, and that many more people die from covid or suffer from long covid. What I don't think is okay is censorship, negating informed consent by failing to provide all relevant information and a proper individualised risk benefit analysis in the face of significant coercion).

Completely agree and this is exactly why I was, and am against the compulsory vaccination we saw in Austria, Canada, Greece etc and some healthcare workers in the UK.

0pheIiaBalls · 30/05/2022 18:24

The flu vaccine can also cause GBS. All medications can cause side effects. It doesn't stop me getting my annual flu jab or my pneumonia jab and it hasn't stopped me getting five covid jabs, because I'm immunosuppressed/CEV and the tiny risk of long term side effects worries me far less than the prospect of a severe bout of covid.

They were suspended from youtube because they regularly reported anti-vaccine nonsense which is not evidence based.

A particular trope was reporting VAERS/yellow card data incorrectly - it is a surveillance used to flag events that are occuring at an unusually high rate. You cannot assume each individual event is causal. This is very very basic but a common tactic of anti-vaccine groups.

This is not censorship. People can navigate to the Uk Column website if they want to, but it is understandable that youtube don't want to host such content. As has been said many times, peddling misinformation doesn't help anyone make an informed decision regarding vaccination.

IncompleteSenten · 30/05/2022 18:40

No. I haven't.
There was a similar thing with the swine flu vaccine wasn't there?

herecomesthsun · 31/05/2022 09:54

It is exremely rare. The (very small) connection has been reported before. Other things can cause Guillain Barre. Nothing to see here.

UK Column are pro-Russian shills.

A relative of mine got it after a flu jab. It was nasty and I'm not sure he ever really got over it.

LaingsAcidTab · 31/05/2022 10:40

I lost my sister (and she lost her sanity) to Qanon, Covid, Illuminati conspiracy theories. UK Column News was her staple. Of course, this doesn't mean that everything they report on is untrue, but the way they warp information to fit their paranoia is stunning to behold.
