Think I have Covid but run out of tests

I have a dry cough and can’t smell a thing. Had Covid in Jan and it does feel a bit Covidy tbh.

So I went to do a test only to discover we have none left.

So do I buy tests and stay in if positive or just carry on regardless?

What country are you in? It's likely the guidance is to stay home for five days if you're symptomatic, and assuming it's possible for you to do so. Kids go to school. It doesn't matter if it's covid or the cold, the advice is the same.

Depends on how you feel. Do you feel well enough to work/go out? If not, take a day or two off if you feel very I'll.

If you think it's covid is there someone that can pick up a test for you?

MsMartini · 25/05/2022 17:22

I've got covid currently. I had some free tests left so will use those, but would have bought some if not so that I know for sure, and to help me time re-entry - if still positive after 5 days for example. So if you can afford to (they are under a tenner for 5 from eg Superdrug), I would order some.

The advice is not carry on regardless in the absence of a test if you have covid symptoms - it is to try to stay home and avoid others

Ask around. I've lent and borrowed tests when there have been supply problems. Work keeps a supply, and some people I know stocked up a bit when we were told that the government was taking them away.

Order them from boots, lloyds etc if you can't get anyone to drop them off,

I’ve tested positive today. I work in school and had some left. I feel grotty, full of cold , chesty cough and headache. I’m isolating for 5 days. It’s a huge mess not supplying free tests but what do you expect from that twat in power? Get well soon.

Depends on where you are in the UK I think.

I’d stay home if at all possible but not everyone has that luxury.
