Sick of being sick (week 8 of probable covid!)

I have been unwell since March. Started with a sore throat and hoarseness. Day three I had a dry cough that made me retch until I vomited. This continued until it turned into a chest infection 10 days later. Resolved temporarily after a course of amoxicillin. Then repeat the above course of symptoms 2-3 more times with sinus issues in between.

Despite a frontline job and testing three times a week, plus PCRs whenever I've had a symptom, I've never tested positive throughout the pandemic. Last autumn I had a covid immunity test offered to me via the gov as part of testing programme. That was negative too.

I have just done my own private antibody test, specifically to test for natural infection, and it's positive! I was convinced I'd never had it and was blaming my poor health on working too much and parenting a toddler, but now I'm thinking I've likely had covid since March. Starting to worry it's never going to shift. I'm about to start my third course of antibiotics for a chest infection.

Anyone else had similar and did it get better? I've also completely lost my voice over the last two days.

Yes OP I started with a painful sore throat and barking cough towards end of March, LFTs negative for 2 weeks then suddenly got a positive as a result of symptoms worsening. That first 2 weeks I felt very poorly but apparently not covid - except I'd had it before and knew the particularly grim feeling the virus has! Over 6 weeks later my right lung is now painful and chest tight, I'm waking up in the night feeling breathless. Off to make a GP appointment this morning.

I've got the hoarseness like you, it comes and goes. Not lost my voice but some days sound like I've got laryngitis. I would bet you've got/had covid, in my experience testing can be unreliable. Hope you feel much better very soon 🤞
