Strange smells 6 months after covid... anyone had this?

I had covid in October and completely lost my smell (and taste). It came back gradually and although not back to my pre covid levels was basically fine. I had a cold about a week and a half ago and gradually over the past week I've been getting a really strong smell of exhaust fumes. It comes and goes, but is more there than not. It goes away if there are other really strong smells. I have read that some people have experienced this a few months after covid - just wondered if anyone else has had similar and found any relief?

I had covid September last year lost my smell and it finally returned Jan/ feb this year but it’s wrong. Everything smells sickly sweet and disgusting (like burnt caramel) or like sewage. Lots of foods taste funny too

I miss the smell of coffee too.

For me it’s mainly rotten eggs/poop which is awful! I hate the smell of cigarettes but I’d rather have smoke than eggs tbh Grin I threw away so much chicken in the early days thinking it was off and that my family were all daft for not being able to smell it when I asked them to check! Blamed Hello Fresh for it a couple of times - oops.

I used to have an amazing sense of smell and revelled in the smell of my XDP’s armpits. Wonder if I’d still be able to get any of that these days Grin.

I took vitamin A and my smell went back to normal.

I had covid in November last year and my smell still isn't right. I didn't notice it at first but I really noticed it in Feb/March onwards.

Mine is a weird overly sweet synthetic smell. I thought it was the toothpaste at first. Then I found myself overseas and could smell it while walking around a new city. All over the place!

It comes and goes. It's annoying but not debilitating, so shan't be bothering the GP yet.

It’s such an odd virus. I haven’t heard that vitamin a helps, might be one to try.

I’m not sure I noticed at first, but it’s become more obvious - I think it’s got worse. The phantom smells aren’t as bad this week though, so that’s something.

For me onions smell different and B.O smells like onions (the new different version)

For weeks I thought I ate something as my body odour was this strong smell but then when I fried onions I knew.
😥

Oh that's weird I can't smell onions as much, or garlic

I can taste them though

my Sense of smell went during Covid and although it returned it changed again a couple of months ago.
Toiletries in particular can smell awful, so antiperspirant, conditioner etc.
Even walking down the street I can be overcome by someone’s perfume.
Not debilitating but an absolute annoyance.
