Tested positive 9 days ago now and still not 100% but I feel very strange.

My sinuses are awful, I'm aching everywhere, I'm absolutely freezing all of the time and I have some strange pains in my stomach. Quite nauseous but I know I won't be sick. The pain in my stomach are around the top third of my tummy above my belly button. On the whole I just feel completely worn out and everywhere hurts. My lips are so dry and I've lost all taste and smell (which I know is a main symptom obvs)

It's just a strange one to feel so congested but with random stomach ache too! I'm guessing it's all covid related? The dry lips are also driving me bonkers. I can't get through the day with our needed to lie down a fair few times too.

Had both vaccines and booster

I tested positive on Monday and have felt exactly like this. The aches are awful..even behind my eyes hurt sometimes. I also have the random stomach aches..yoghurt helped a little. It’s so bizarre. I’ve also had both vaccines and booster. Today’s the first day I’ve been able to get out of bed and already feel like I need to lie down again. The sinus and head pain is awful..feels like my heads in a vice.
I know there’s no legal requirement to isolate now and the advice is to get on with normal life when you feel able..just interested in what other people are doing once they have it. I really don’t want my husband to get it again, or indeed pass it onto anyone else. Have you been testing to see if you’re negative before you go out? I did one earlier and it couldn’t have been more positive😞 I thought 4 days in it might have started to fade.
💐💐to you @fortysomething8 hope you feel much better very soon

Yes I've had some really strange symptoms. I'm day 14 and my sinuses are blocked or flowing from one minute to the next. The body pains have mainly now stopped but at one point I couldn't straighten my legs as they were so painful. Dry lips, tight skin, rash on my neck. Weird.

Scottsforsure281 · 29/04/2022 15:32

Toontastic I felt too unwell to go anywhere when I was positive so I did isolate but DH and DS had it too so we all isolated together at home. I had a clear negative on day 7 but in still off work now at day 14. I'll be good enough to go in next week but still a way off normal.

BreakinbadBreakineven · 29/04/2022 15:42

Yes i had awful stomach pains and zero appetite then a week later utterly freezing, couldn't get warm then if I did I'd suddenly be sweating hot. Then my sinuses were and still are full of vile gunk that won't come out. It's rubbish.

SmithfamilyRobinson · 29/04/2022 15:43

I am about day 18 having tested positive before Easter. I signed myself off for 4 days and then worked from home in the 4 days of the subsequent short week - there's A LOT of pressure to brush covid off as "mild" and go back to work. Myself and 2 friends all tested positive at the same time - same age but were not in contact with each other. Go easy on yourselves - this is a nasty illness needing proper rest to recover.

ShouldersBackChestOutChinUp · 29/04/2022 16:00

I was like this too. I still have trouble breathing properly when I go running.

Covid can be nasty for some people. I'd be very careful about writing it off as 'mild'. How many mild deaths from it were there this week in the UK?

MassiveSalad22 · 29/04/2022 16:02

Yes. Was also 9 months pregnant 😂 get some lanolin on those lips!

Witchofthedales · 29/04/2022 19:01

I had your exact symptoms, all I could do was sleep, a month later my sinuses are still bungled up 😥Plenty fluids, warm drinks really help, and try to rest as much as you can. I hope you feel better soon 💐

Witchofthedales · 29/04/2022 19:02

Bunged up that should say!

fortysomething8 · 29/04/2022 19:09

Thank you for all replies. I feel slightly better today with no stomach ache. I still feel absolutely worn out and can only do small amounts of daily tasks/work without having to just lay down.

As pp - covid is an awful virus and I can see now that recovery is long for some.

I isolated when I was really unwell - I wouldn't go anywhere knowing I was positive but I couldn't either way as I felt so rotten. I tested negative on the first day I needed to get out of the house.

I've had a couple of light errands I had to run today and driving about was enough to make me need a lay down.

I felt genuinely scared for a while - experiencing stomach ache while congested was just so strange.

Hugs to you all - rest as much as possible. I don't know about anyone else but sitting in the sun seems to really help me so that's my plan for the weekend!

I’ve felt a bit scared this evening too as the pains in my stomach feel really strange and at one point I thought I was going to faint!

I tested positive last Saturday and apart from a bad headache on the first day I’ve been ok really, just tired. However I am isolating in my room away from family so perhaps it’s just that kicking in today…

I hope you feel better soon, this virus is a b1tch 🌺

Quornflakegirl · 29/04/2022 20:04

Apart from such a bad blocked nose I was ok, I worked as normal from home. The worst part was having both dc at home also positive and having to entertain them while having covid and trying to work. By day 4 I was back to normal.

wonkygorgeous · 29/04/2022 22:10

I had dry dry lips, eyes, dry cough. My mum had it and renamed it 'Sahara covid' as in as dry as the Sahara.

It's seems to dry everything out, I was so thirsty.

The worst not was the fatigue which I'm still suffering with now three weeks later. The brain for cleared on day 21 though.

My first symptom for a few days was gritty eyes.

Thanks for responding to my post. I’m feeling better now and the pain has stopped so that’s a relief!

woodhill · 30/04/2022 12:45

My stomach is really gripey especially under the rib cage, had it since Monday and not feeling well at all

Permanent catarrh

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 30/04/2022 13:30

I’m on about day 21.

still got cough, stomach ache and nause. I would say tummy pain and nausea were the worst thing of all for me.

@SmithfamilyRobinson
I am exactly same as you. Also day 18. And still feeling rubbish, exhausted and unable to get a full breath.

I agree, they are billing it as "just a mild cold for most" but the more I read and chat to people, the more people seem to be really wiped out by it.

CorsicaDreaming · 30/04/2022 20:27

@fortysomething8 - you are right. All I want to do is sit in the sun!

Which might sound like well yes duh, of course that's a nice thing to do,,, but literally it feels like that is ALL I can do (and chat on Mumsnet!) and although I do like sitting in the sun, normally there's no way I could just do it day after day without wanting to go off and do something.

Topseyt123 · 01/05/2022 12:16

It's the fatigue and the washed-out-ness that is proving to be the biggest issue.

Yes, it has been like a big, streaming head cold for me, with raised temperature, cough and sore throat. Body aches all over.

I'm on day 10 now, and much of that has lifted, but the cough and the washed-out-ness remain.

woodhill · 01/05/2022 12:22

Are you able to go to work, that is what is stressing me. My stomach hurts and I can't be bothered to do anything. I'm on day 7 but felt bad before then

Grumpybutfunny · 01/05/2022 12:25

Anyone had like a heavy feeling in chest, I've already had covid once asymptomatically. This time started with a sinus pain and a positive LFT. Haven't really felt I'll, haven't had a cough really or any proper symptoms. Day 4 now and don't even feel like I've got cold but have a horrible heavy feeling in my chest. It's weird as don't even have a cough!!

dizzydizzydizzy · 01/05/2022 14:02

Yes, I had covid in February and was pretty much as you describe, OP, except my sense of taste and smell was unaffected. I phoned my GP a after I had got over the infection. She saw me in person and said I had sinusitis and gave me antibiotics. I got omeprazole for the tummy pain.

SmithfamilyRobinson · 01/05/2022 19:35

How's everyone feeling? On Friday, about 3 weeks after contracting covid (approx) felt a lot better and even attempted a glass of wine. Definitely experienced colic symptoms in the first week and had a distended abdomen until last week. In case anyone in the early stages reads this TAKE CARE and I found a wet flannel over my eyes at bedtime very soothing (days 1 & 2) and then on my swollen neck (day 3). I hate to calculate how many painkillers I took - I kept a drug diary. A LOT. The insomnia... and not being able to sleep it off (unlike flu). Horribly reminiscent of glandular fever which I had for the 2nd time 6 years ago.
