Sense of smell

Hi all
Since having covid about 3 weeks ago my sense of smell has been affected. Sometimes I can smell things and sometimes not at all. Sometimes it comes off and on in waves - it's so weird.

It's not a big deal at all - I just wondered if anyone else has experienced it like this?

I had covid last year and again last month. I find I can often smell things if I stick my nose right in them but nothing at all from any distance (so cooking onion and garlic today- no smell at all- but if I apply perfume and hold my wrist to my nose I can smell it weakly but accurately).

I’d love to k ow if there’s anything one can do to help it come back? I love smelling!

Hi @Obelisk yes mine it a bit like that too. The first thing I noticed is I can't smell my dog's enormous poos when I'm picking them up. But I haven't tried holding them up close to my nose!
I notice that with foods I have to hold them up close.
I think I saw an article ages ago about 'smell therapy' which involved sniffing and identifying lots of different smells to retrain the brain. I'll have a look for it!
