How long did you test positive for on lateral flows?

Am currently on day 7 of covid, have done a lateral flow this morning which is still showing 2 dark lines.

Just out of interest how long did people test positive on lateral flows for?

I work in a care home so can not go back to work until I produce 2 negative tests. I have to do a lateral flow before every shift but based on this mornings results can't see me being negative for another few days yet?
Thanks in advance.

So if you had a negative test day 5/6 could you of gone back?
Im so confused with new guidelines as it mentions the 5 days then memtions 10 days.
So what are we supposed to do 5 or 10

Playdoughcaterpillar · 10/04/2022 09:45

Yes you have to have 2 negative in a row. That can start from any day from day 5 so earliest free is day 6. But could also be 6 and 7, 7 and 8, 8 and 9 etc. Once you've completed day 10 you are free regardless of test

Playdoughcaterpillar · 10/04/2022 09:45

I'm day 5 and still positive. My friend was still positive when she gave up testing day 11!

bluebaul · 10/04/2022 09:47

I'm in exactly the same boat, day 7 here and still seeing a bold line. DD tested negative on her day 7 & 8! I have read so many stories of people still positive way past day 10 though Sad

Fingers crossed - try again tonight; we did that with DD as she had a barely there line in the morning so we just gave her another shot at it before bed, it did mean when she got her 2nd 24 hours later she was only going to bed, but she knew she was feee in the morning!

grosgirl · 10/04/2022 09:48

13 days!

grafittiartist · 10/04/2022 09:49

7 days here too.
Can't go to work tomorrow as still showing a positive.
Tuesday is our last day in I think?
Have to say- I still feel rubbish though.

Hi,

Yes I was told by work to start testing from day 5 and as soon as I have 2 negatives I can go back so yes I could of gone straight back had I been negative day 5/6.

I believe its advised to start testing at day 5 now? My Dc had covid a few months back and they were negative by day 5/6.

Thanks all,
I feel OK in myself now, had a few of days of feeling quite rough. Now just a sore throat and headache lingering. Also fatigue but that's quite normal for me!
I suppose I was wondering what would happen if I continued to test positive after day 10 as I have to show proof of a negative test before each shift? Something I could ask the manager should that happen but hopefully I'll be in the clear by then!

At least 15 days ( I only tested as had planned to see someone someone vulnerable) for me. I knew I had no chance on day 5 as was still so ill I could barely get out of bed.

Current UK guidance is to stay home for 5 days after a positive test, or longer if you feel unwell, have a temperature. 3 days for children. It makes no mention of having to test further.

I think you mean England Hmm

I still tested positive on day 15 😩

Imonlydoingwhatican · 10/04/2022 11:55

Day 12 here and still very strong positive. Other thrn that i feel fine

EBearhug · 10/04/2022 12:00

11 days. Day 11 was fainter, and day 12 was negative. I had a sore throat and cough at the start, but was entirely symptom free by the end.

pinkpanther84 · 10/04/2022 12:03

I tested positive for the whole 10 days. I stopped testing after that as it didn't make any difference as our isolation had ended

TheGlitterati · 10/04/2022 12:23

I still had a super dark line at day 9 and didn’t test again as didn’t see the point. Could be positive for months!

BeyondMyWits · 10/04/2022 12:28

Day 9 for negative for me..

wishuponarainbow · 10/04/2022 12:32

Day 16 for a first negative here!! Although was able to be "released" after day 10 as told no longer infectious. Found it bizarre that I still showed as positive on LFDs for so many days after though

ifyouturnonthelight · 10/04/2022 12:34

26 days Hmm

Passthebubbly · 10/04/2022 15:17

Day 9 for my son still a strong positive this morning. We are in Scotland so he isolates until negative or end of day 10. Questions for those of you who tested positive after day 10 - would you go around someone who wa son shielding list? I am not sure when he can see granny again cev if it’s sage if still testing positive after day 10?

We have decided to avoid the CEV family members for 14 days even if testing negative before hand. It's just not really worth the risk. If still positive at day 15? I will probably still avoid.

Passthebubbly · 10/04/2022 15:55

@bluebaul yes that my thought process too I guess. Probably hold off until next weekend

TypicaIMe · 10/04/2022 16:01

I tested positive for three weeks.

I tested on day 15 as wanted to see someone in hospital. Not sure what the hospital policy was but as I was still faintly positive decided not to.
