Wide range of symptoms but negative test? What else could it be?

Had very weird symptoms last few days and not sure if I’ve had a few viruses back to back or if this is covid. I’m 23 weeks pregnant so struggling for breath with it too:
Day 1:
Intense stomach cramps, literally worse than labour, interspersed with episodes of vomiting and feeling like I need diarrhoea but nothing there?! (TMI, sorry), then about 12 hours later several episodes of diarrhoea with stomach cramps
Day 2&3:
Stomach cramps gone, headache both days and exhaustion
Day 4&5:
Coughing a lot, nausea back, very snotty and phlegmy
It’s going in to day 6 and I’ve been up for the last few hours because I’m so breathless, feeling rather sorry for myself.

LFT has been negative but the symptoms fit the bill, otherwise have j just picked up norovirus or similar then a chest infection?

20% of all lateral flows tests are negative when the person is actually positive. I hope you get well soon.

It took everyone in my house over a week to test positive with similar symptoms last month.

It could be another virus of course, but not testing positive for a while after symptoms start seems to be a thing at the moment.

Thank you, I took a LFT this morning and it’s still negative so I’m a bit stumped. I’ll take another in a few more days

Tim Spector of the covid symptom study and Kings university said last week that if you have a cold and it looks a bit like covid, it almost certainly is. So you probably have it, especially given the prevalence of 1 in 13.

GoldenGorilla · 10/04/2022 09:25

Took 5 or 6 days before I tested positive.

M0RVEN · 10/04/2022 09:30

Just get a PCR test

Pyri · 10/04/2022 09:32

@M0RVEN

Just get a PCR test
You can’t get them anymore

I’m in a similar position - everyone else in the house had covid in the last two weeks (with a crazily varied amount of symptoms!). Now I have cold symptoms with a cough and tight chest, exactly the same as DP had, and have been testing for a week - all negative (luckily have a stash of LFTs in the house). Still coughing, still negative, don’t really want to go out and about.

I have been ill for a week with stomach symptoms at first, sore throat, headache and exhaustion. Just feeling grotty, achey and like I'm made of lead. Negative for days.

DH on Friday tested positive with a line so strong it was black. We share a room, bed, living room, desk.

I am due to have an op next month, if I'm positive I'll have to postpone it for 7 weeks and that then takes meet into the summer when I don't want to be stuck in bed in plaster for six weeks.

I fear testing positive for the pre op assessment as would then have to wait 7 weeks from that date, works rather pay for a PCR today and just can start the clock ticking from now if positive

Sisisimone · 10/04/2022 09:45

I dont know what it is but it sounds absolutely nothing like Covid. Maybe gastroenteritis?

dollyblack · 10/04/2022 09:46

Agree with others. I was off sick with an upset stomach and dizziness for a week before i got a positive test.

nearlyspringyay · 10/04/2022 10:02

Could be anything. Other germs are available.

umpkj · 10/04/2022 10:29

I have strange cold. Only snotty nose and woolly head. No fever, headache, cough or sore throat. I feel coldy but I never had this kind of cold. Lfts have been negative. I really need to know if this is or isn't covid because we are travelling next week.

Justourluck · 10/04/2022 11:41

My DD is the same - been poorly since Wednesday with a really rotten heavy cold, chesty cough etc. negative LFT’s on both nose and throat swabs and nose only.

Meant to be going to NYC on Wednesday - supervised LFT Tuesday - not sure she’ll be well enough to travel even if she does pass the fit to fly

Lilaclavenders · 10/04/2022 11:45

Because we've not had much contact with any viruses over the past two years, we're now playing catch-up! There's lots of viruses out there... try to build up your immune system!

I’ve had a hideous week of illness but keep testing negative.
Started with earache, congestion/sinus pressure, nausea, dizzyness 8 days ago, went to walk in clinic last Sunday and told it was wax in my ears, despite me saying I have regular sinusitis. Hearing got worse plus horrendous tinnitus so paid £60 to have them suctioned on Wednesday, audiologist gave me a hearing test as my hearing didn’t improve, 90% loss in left ear, 60% loss in right one, also dull and bulging eardrums apparently.
Rang GP Thursday am, couldn’t get an (online) appt till tomorrow evening Hmm
Lost my hearing completely on Thursday! Not fun as DH was away on a course, my balance was also off. Extreme nausea and vomiting into Friday, barely ate for 3 days prior.
Have been saline rinsing my nose /sinuses, thick green mucus today and my ears are painful again.
Supposed to be flying to Malta next Saturday.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt so ill for so long, not even with the Flu.
