Positive LFT... do I need a confirmatory PCR for a Recovery Certificate?

I tested positive on LFT this morning and reported it to the NHS website. But the information on the site was just about advising me to try to stay at home for 5 days. The NHS website just says "You can no longer get a free PCR test."

I'm not that fussed about confirming it with a PCR but I would quite like to eventually get evidence of COVID recovery (for travelling in future). None of the website makes it clear whether I'll be able to certify COVID Recovery from a LFT.

For Kids you can report the LFT via NHS, get a email / text and then use that for the covid recovery from a private company as far as I can see... I plan on doing this.

I just checked and my travel pass only has my vaccinations, no recovery certificate. DH did a PCR ( this was back when you could) and has a recovery certificate.

This seems like a good solution! Both my kids had covid about a month ago and we didn't get a PCR for them, becuase the centre was shut.

I guess we could register the same LFTs now (I took photos of them) and report them and that would give us the email we need?

Seems like a massive pisstake to me. Surely anyone can do this, report any old LFTs and get their certificates then go? What's the point of all this now?

You can only register LFT results the day of the test or the day after.

But how would anyone know when the test was taken?

I've done a bit of research and I think we'll be better off getting LFTs for the kids before our May holiday. It's an extra stress we could well do without, but thinking about it, I wouldn't want the kids to have Covid on holiday anyway, so if they're positive, it would be good to know before we go!

You can only log a test done that day or in the previous 24 hours. No options beyond that.

Private providers and lab/PCR tests it'll be date of transaction or date on lab report.

It used to be that the NHS app suspended your covid pass if you reported a positive lft.
Now it doesn't.
I suspect this means that you can no longer get a recovery certificate unless you pay for a private pcr.

Watapalava · 13/04/2022 18:55

Private companies generally only issue recovery Cert for a pcr

Most countries insist covid recovery is via pcr and not lft

I rang 119 today to ask about this and they confirmed that to get the covid recovery pass a PCR has to have been taken and now the only way to do that is to pay (unless you’re eligible for the antivirals). It would have to be off the gov approved provider list and then she seemed to think the NHS app would recognise it but I’m not fully convinced to be honest!
