Dulled sense of taste - will it recover?

I didn't fully lose my sense of taste but just felt that it was diminished. For example, I can taste the bitter notes of coffee but not the body of the flavour. Also, when cooking I have to add a lot of stock or garlic to get the same effect as before; thankfully I am only cooking for myself as it would probably be inedible if I could really taste it! I'm just wondering if anyone else with dulled sense of taste got it back and, if so, after how long?
