Loss of taste and smell

Am on day 5 of covid and starting to feel slightly better. But all of a sudden, I have realised that I can't taste my coffee. Last night I couldn't smell some mint but just assumed I was blocked up.

Has anyone else lost their sense of smell/taste with Omicron?

I had covid at New Year. I assume it was omicron and lost my sense of smell and taste. It started to come back within a week or so.

Thank you, a week doesn't sound too bad.

I've lost my taste, not really sure what day I'm on. I think my symptoms started 5 days ago but only tested 2 days ago and got a strong positive. I hope it doesn't last long before it comes back.

Me. I’m on day 12 and still feel pretty rotten overall. I am eating more than usual because I am so desperate to taste something.

I'm about 5 weeks post positive result. I'd lost both. I notice when I can smell or taste things now, but it's still very random, and comes and goes.

I'm on day 3 and just noticed within the last hour I've lost my sense of taste and smell. I'm feeling pretty grotty anyway and ache all over but the biggest annoying symptom for me is blocked ears and feeling deaf.

I got Covid over Christmas and completely lost sense of smell. It started to come back very gradually ie I could smell things under my nose but nothing else.

This week everything has started to taste and smell foul...3 months on. I'm devastated. I've barely eaten a thing all week. Sugary stuff tastes of chemicals but fresh food is like past its best fruit mixed with sewage. It's horrible. Hoping it doesn't last long but reading some real horror stories.

had covid last august and totally lost taste and smell for a few weeks. Took some time to come back but now, 6 months after I am back to normal.

It is the oddest experience!

FunnysInLaJardin · 01/04/2022 23:03

btw I would have had Delta

Had covid in April 2020. Sense of smell has never recovered. I sometimes get a faint whiff of artificial smells (for example toilet cleaner) but natural smells (cooking smells) can't get through
