Will I be contacted every day for a positive PCR?

I'm vivid positive. Feeling perfectly fine for the time being. I'm unvaccinated, and considering (as per previous post) registering my positive with a PCR so I can get a recovery certificate. My husband says if we do, that we'll have someone from the NHS track and trace team or whoever calling us everyday making sure we're isolating and contacting our close contacts. I didn't think they were doing this anymore? I thought there's no longer a legal obligation to isolate. Just common sense that if you feel sick enough o stay home then do, etc. if I want to leave the house to go for a walk in the park or take my daughter to nursery then I don't want to be harassed about it. Can anyone tell me if track and trace or anyone else will be calling to check up on (harass) me?

Nope.

Shitzngiggles · 26/03/2022 11:36

I tested positive on Wednesday and registered the result. I've not been contacted by anyone.

Mrsjayy · 26/03/2022 12:19

My Dd was contacted once and then at the end by text so she could return to work we were close contacts and had not a peep from them, we are in Scotland so it might be different elsewhere in the Uk

I registered my DH as he was considered vulnerable and he may have been eligible for antiviral treatment. He did get 3 phone calls in first few days, plus a call from GP and the medical assessment unit that saw him when he was quite poorly. After that he only received one more phone call when he was feeling a lot better. I didn’t bother registering myself, to be honest I was so busy looking after DH and 2 DS’s and myself and dog that I didn’t get round to it. DS’s didn’t want theirs registered.

iolaus · 26/03/2022 20:45

I tested positive (I am vaccinated) I had a phone call and they said it was only because I'm a health care professional to ask about potential breaches in PPE and did I suspect where I caught it

Pointed out it's rife in my son's primary and he tested positive the same day as me, woman just agreed that it seems most likely I've caught it out of work

Phormiumjester2 · 26/03/2022 20:48

It's not a legal requirement in England so no, they won't. If you're in England. Don't know about Wales , Scotland and NI now though.

Tree543 · 26/03/2022 20:51

All 4 of us tested positive in the last 2 weeks and none of us were contacted.

feellikeanalien · 26/03/2022 20:52

When I tested positive I didn't get a single phone call. I did get lots of texts and emails telling me I had tested positive and asking me to complete questionnaires though.

itsgettingweird · 26/03/2022 20:56

Not anymore because there's no legal requirement to isolate.

It's just guidance.

Redglitter · 26/03/2022 22:18

I tested positive this week. Registered my test & got several messages advising me about isolating etc. One of them actually said there would be no need for them to contact me further & they haven't

Heartofglass12345 · 26/03/2022 23:01

No they won't contact you every days.
Our health board now sends an automatic sms with a link to a from to fill in online now , they only contact people if it's not completed by 11pm that night. We don't have capacity to contact anyone every day and we never did for anyone who tested positive, only the contacts who were isolating.

Onegingerhead · 27/03/2022 08:48

DH tested positive last Monday, myself 2 days later. Not a single phone call, just a text confirming our PCRs were positive.

emmathedilemma · 27/03/2022 13:07

I had a positive PCR a few days ago and haven’t been contacted by them (and it’s still mandatory to self isolate up here). There was a link on the results text and email to specify close contacts but everyone I had contact details for already had it and had given it me!!

PingPages · 27/03/2022 13:13

(Assuming you’re in England) No they won’t - or if they do it will be to check you have support/if you know where you caught it or something. There is no legal requirement to isolate any more here. NHS page here which includes link to Scotland Wales and N Ireland guidance too in case you’re there www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing/test-results/positive-test-result/

Worth doing a PCR result to have it on your record if you’re not vaccinated. Not sure if you’re travelling abroad anytime soon but it’s useful for that.

lostoldname · 27/03/2022 13:15

Test and trace was closed in February.

NoisyBrain · 27/03/2022 13:27

Hi, sorry to jump in on this thread but as pps have mentioned registering test results I thought someone might be able to help.

I tested positive on lateral flow yesterday. I've had two texts asking me to register the result on the NHS app. The instructions say 'Select 'Enter test result' on the app home screen, but there is no such option on my home screen. Am I missing something in my covid brain fog?

CharityShopChic · 27/03/2022 13:34

You will not be contacted at all.

I had a positive PCR on 18th March, I filled in an online test and protect (Scotland) form asking about close contacts over the age of 18. They were not interested in whether i'd used public transport, been shopping etc. Got an initial deluge of about 6 emails about everything from self-isolation grants to mental health support, and not a peep after that.

ItsMutinyontheBunty · 27/03/2022 13:37

I’ve been getting daily texts and emails to update the app…which I’m not doing because I’d been positive on LFTs and only had a PCR because I was in hospital. I’m not contagious any more so I won’t be exposing anyone.

I presume this is about adding it to the “NHS Covid-19” app not “NHS App”?

The attached photo is what comes up on the screen of the covid app with option to add test result @

My gp surgery called when I had it a couple of weeks ago

NoisyBrain · 27/03/2022 13:49

@PingPages ohhh, then yes, I was missing something in my covid brain fog 🤦🏻‍♀️ I had read it as just the normal NHS app, thank you.

Thanks for all the responses. and thank you for this. I did think test and trace was closed abs also that we were no longer required to isolate either, but husband thought maybe it was 1 April. Close enough anyway even it it was. I've never even had the NHS app installed. I got the postal PCR today. Will send off tomorrow. A

I tested positive 2 weeks ago. I'd been phoned by Test & Trace the day before to inform me that I was a close contact of someone who had tested positive (I already knew, they'd sent me a picture of the LFT). I was advised to get a PCR.

Once the positive PCR result came through I had a phone call from Test & Trace to find out the details of the people I'd been in contact with over the 2 days before I tested positive. I didn't have any more phone calls from them after that first day.

Tippexy · 27/03/2022 23:29

Is your husband also the reason you're unvaccinated? Sounds like he's quite the theorist!
