Did you observe todays minutes silence?

OP posts:
Tereseta · 23/03/2022 20:22

We had a remembrance meeting in work where people spoke about the colleagues we lost over the last two years then had the minutes silence. It was very moving and made me feel grateful for coming through covid unscathed (so far)

Tereseta · 23/03/2022 20:23

Work in civil service, and we had the same last year also

FannyCann · 23/03/2022 20:24

NHS here. No idea. Definitely no one in my large department aware. 🤷‍♀️

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 23/03/2022 20:25

Wasnt it called " day of reflection " or something.. something to do with NHS I vaguely think .. it's been mentioned somewhere I think

NewName9273 · 23/03/2022 20:26

Where we do this 'advertised' I listened to the radio all day and haven't heard anything about it

Abraxan · 23/03/2022 20:26

Had no idea it was happening.
I did know it was 2 years since lockdown 1 as we spoke about in the staffroom at work today.

I assume it wasn't to commemorate the start of lockdown however, but a remembrance for people who have lost their lives to the pandemic.

AskingforaBaskin · 23/03/2022 20:26

No, just heard of it through here but seems a bit daft anyway. Wouldn't have participated anyway.

DillDanding · 23/03/2022 20:28

Knew nothing about it. Tbh, I wouldn't have observed it anyway.

thenightsky · 23/03/2022 20:28

God, they'll be expecting us outside our houses to clap next!

ShrigleyForty · 23/03/2022 20:32

No. It was two years to this day my Dad went into a hospice after a horrendous week in the local hospital. Other stuff was going on.

Ca55andraMortmain · 23/03/2022 20:35

I'm a teacher and we observed it at school. There was a very last minute email that went to all the schools in the LA asking us to observe it (sent at 11.30am for a silence at 12).

iRun2eatCake · 23/03/2022 20:40

Wasn't even aware of it.

deadlanguage · 23/03/2022 20:43

I was also unaware there was supposed to be one

Wafflesnsniffles · 23/03/2022 20:43

Had no idea there was one so no I didnt observe it.

Pixiedust1234 · 23/03/2022 20:45

Nope. I didn't see it on any online news pages (and I look through a lot). Nobody mentioned it here either. Wasn't well advertised was it?

godmum56 · 23/03/2022 20:46

nope

Vallmo47 · 23/03/2022 20:46

No idea it was going on.

RoseMartha · 23/03/2022 20:49

Wasnt even aware it was a thing

The only reference I made to the first lockdown was to the tesco delivery man when we were talking about busy over Easter .

EmergencyPoncho · 23/03/2022 20:49

@SexiestDogWalker

They kept that quiet.

Badum-tsssss!!

Haaaa! Took me a while.
YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 23/03/2022 20:51

Seriously?
First I’ve heard of it!

TheVolturi · 23/03/2022 20:52

Weird thing to have a silence about really. Is it to remember those who died? Or just to remember the shit we all went through?

MargaretThursday · 23/03/2022 21:15

To me 2 years since the start of Covid would have been the 16th. That's when it started impacting my life.

Didn't hear anything about a minute's silence.

AskingforaBaskin · 23/03/2022 22:48

I was sure it was the 16th as well!
Cleothecat75 · 23/03/2022 23:06

I think stuff started to close on the 16th, but the first day of ‘no school’ was officially the 23rd.

No idea there was a minutes silence. I was watching PMQs at 12 -I’m sure I watched from the start and there was no mention on there of a silence.

girlmom21 · 23/03/2022 23:13

OP I think you needed to give people a bit more detail. It wasn't to remember the lockdown - it was a minutes silence for those who died from covid.

It feels a bit of a strange thing to do a silence for though. We don't do a minutes silence for everyone who died of any other illness two years ago.
