Interested in knowing how your covid compared to your expectations. Personally I have been in fear of it for the last two years but touch wood so far has not been that bad. It has really changed my perception of risk rightly or wrongly.

It's really worrying how many people, including children, seem to be suffering long term symptoms, particularly exhaustion/memory issues.

EgonSpengler2020 · 19/03/2022 21:01

I've got it currently. I'm unvaccinated and this is the first time I've had it to my knowledge, although I have been heavily exposed through working frontline as a paramedic throughout.

It is about what I expected. I've been worse. I had an up and down temperature for 36 hours, since than I've had a bad sore throat, but my throat is always my weakness and gets affected with pretty much every cold I pick up.

My dog had to go without a walk for one day!

luckylavender · 19/03/2022 21:16

It certainly wasn't a mild cold. I felt wiped out for the first three days, just slept. And I didn't dress for a week. But I recovered quite quickly & don't have any lasting effects.

ThreeDayWeek · 19/03/2022 21:31

Surprised that Omnicrom was not just like a cold. I had it in February

SlashBeef · 19/03/2022 21:36

Genuinely fine. Like a cold for me.

AmandaHoldensLips · 19/03/2022 21:43

I'm laid up with it now and feeling like shite. Glad to have found this thread! Here's some Flowers for all of us.

LadyMacduff · 19/03/2022 21:45

Never was anxious about it and frankly amazed it's taken this long for it to get me.

I feel pretty ropey today, first started coughing on Weds, so hoping it's at it's peak now.

knowinglesseveryday · 19/03/2022 22:30

I was pretty unwell, although not very recently.

CornishYarg · 19/03/2022 23:10

It was far milder than I expected, just felt a bit under the weather for a couple of days and had a dry cough that hung around for a couple of weeks. I'm asthmatic and often when I get colds or other bugs, it affects my chest and makes me feel quite ill but fortunately this wasn't the case for me with Covid.

BusyBeaMe · 20/03/2022 03:47

Have it is, day 4 and it’s now turned into a really bad cold with raspy sore throat and no voice. A throaty, sore cough too. I feel tired but that’s probably because I’ve got two DC in my bed too - 4 yo coughing and just had calpol who’s just starting it and toddler who’s had it and is out of routine because of being ill. She was quite poorly- temperature and strange rash, but only for 24 hours

Get well soon those of you going through this Flowers

garlictwist · 20/03/2022 04:14

It was pretty mild for me. Just felt a bit snotty. I was more worried about getting long covid than covid itself but luckily that doesn't seem to have happened.

jupitermars1345 · 20/03/2022 07:42

I'm surprised by how it is in my six year old
She literally has a dry persistent cough
No appetite and vomiting occasionally
But no cold symptoms with the cough at all

I suspect my nine month old has it to
She has a wet phlegm like cough and a lot of snot and congestion
Me and oh symptomless at the moment

jupitermars1345 · 20/03/2022 07:43

I'm a anxious person and worried mostly about them getting long covid

AmbushedByCake · 20/03/2022 07:49

It's such a strange illness. DH and I got it at the same time, old variant before vaccination. I was fine, tickly cough and tired. But looked after the DC and kept on top of work without much trouble. Lost my sense of smell for a bit. DH was scarily ill. Lost a stone and a half, collapsed trying to go to the bathroom, couldn't get out of bed for a week. Hard to believe it was the same virus.

Jules912 · 20/03/2022 08:46

Worse than I expected. Thought I'd got off lightly with 3 days of just a cough but then all the other symptoms started. Day 8 now and still feel dizzy if I try and do too much.

BigButtons · 20/03/2022 09:44

@AmbushedByCake yes it is completely unpredictable.
I am on day 9 I think ( since test not since symptoms) day 12 since symptoms.
There seems to be no rhyme nor reason as to how badly people will suffer.
I have had none of the classic three symptoms at any point. I cough but it is not dry but very productive, small and taste fine , was achey but no actual fever.
I think the symptom guidelines are very outdated.
This one has thrown pretty much everything at me bar the three that I should have had.

MadisonAvenue · 20/03/2022 18:41

I had it in January, and had been worried because I’m apparently CEV. I felt a bit off when I tested, had two hours of feeling pretty ill on the evening of that day (headache, blocked nose, body aches, shivering), slept for three hours and woke feeling almost back to normal. I just felt like I was almost over a cold for a few days although on day 5 I lost my taste and smell, both of which came back four days later.

My husband was a few days behind me, he doesn’t normally catch anything but this really knocked him about. He’s very fit and healthy as is our 21 year old son who was the third of us to test positive and he spent a day in bed as he felt so ill.
