Mother has COVID and ECV father not keeping distance

Mother is 72. Father is 8 years older with many health issues. I recommended that they separate out at least for first few days but I phoned today and they were in the same room together. I feel very uneasy but at the end of the day it's their choice. WWYD?!

As you say it’s their choice. You’ve made a recommendation and they’ve chosen to ignore it so not much else you can do.

SpringRainbow · 17/03/2022 20:42

You have voiced your opinion, you can’t do much more than that.

By now they will be well aware of the risks.

SickAndTiredAgain · 17/03/2022 20:46

I wouldn’t do anything. It’s his decision to make.

Twizbe · 17/03/2022 20:50

Nothing. It's their choice.

At 80 he's old enough to understand the risk and want to take it.

TheKeatingFive · 17/03/2022 21:31

Well of course it's their choice. Nothing to be done.

Delatron · 17/03/2022 22:40

It’s their choice. My Mum didn’t pass it on to my Dad (no distancing) so not a given that he’ll get it

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/03/2022 22:44

Does your father have any cognitive impairment that might affect his ability to make an informed choice?

If not, I assume they’ve kept fairly up to date with advice over the last 2 years and you’ll just have to keep everything crossed that he stays well.

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/03/2022 22:44

They're grown up adults.

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 17/03/2022 22:46

I’ve been really ill with covid and not one other bugger in my house has caught it!

BritWifeInUSA · 18/03/2022 00:22

At 80 and with severe health conditions every day is a blessing. Tomorrow could be his last. I wouldn’t want to spend my final days apart from my husband.

Leave them be.

rhowton · 18/03/2022 11:47

I didn't give it to either of my parents, my DH or either of my children. They're clearly made of stronger stuff than me.

firstimemamma · 18/03/2022 11:49

In his shoes I'd be doing the same thing as what he's doing!

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 18/03/2022 12:13

He's 80. With all due respect, he's already out lived the statistics so each day is a bonus day. Why would he want to spend them distancing from his wife.

In any case it's his business not yours.
