How long do I have to wait after having COVID to get my vaccination?

Adults can have the vaccine 28 days after a positive test for COVID-19 or 28 days after symptoms started, whichever is earlier. This is in line with Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) guidance.

You have waited all this time and are now going to have the vaccine after you have gained natural immunity?

Nowt so queer as folk

Was going to say the same!

Literally the most pointless moment in the past year to get vaccinated!

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 17/03/2022 16:02

Given there won't be testing in 2 weeks time how will they be able to have a requirement to wait until a certain number of days after a test. So any time after 1st April.

Insanegotnobrain · 17/03/2022 17:23

Op has been tested though so will have to wait 28 days.

PurpleDaisies · 17/03/2022 17:25

It’s brilliant you’ve decided to get vaccinated. Ignore the criticism. If you look at the government dashboard, you’ll see lots of first vaccinations every day. It’ll boost the immunity your natural infection will (hopefully) have given you.

As others have said, you have to wait 28 days.

The advise will be to wait 28 day after illness/suspected covid.

Your thought process makes no sense. You don't get vaccinated but choose to after getting covid? 😮

Anyway, you can have it after 28 days of covid, 28 days after symptoms started or positive test.

Anxiety doesn't make sense, that's the point of it.

No one should be judged for changing their mind on this.

DamnUserName21 · 17/03/2022 18:38

As PP have said 4 weeks from the date you tested positive if over 18.

90 days under 18, I believe (unless it's changed...)

Watapalava · 17/03/2022 22:26

28 days though in theory anytime as vax sites don't have access to pcr results. My kids both had their vax 3-4 weeks post covid pcr last month
