Why can’t I find any NHS advice on testing a baby at home?

My son aged 7 tested positive for Covid, now my baby girl has a temperature. Can I do a lateral flow test on her? Am I supposed to do tonsils or nose? And why does there seem to be literally no advice on testing babies anywhere online? I phoned my GP and they refused to help, telling me to call 119. I did but none of the options applied to me, it was all stuff about Covid passes and vaccinations. I called the GP again and they said call 111. I just want to know how to do a bloody lateral flow on a baby and whether I even should. I’d just isolate her anyway but I’d like to know as that would affect how long I’d keep her at home and whether I need to cancel loads of stuff happening next week. Thanks

If testing you can just do the nostrils. It says that in the instructions. Or don't test and just assume she has it

I think there’s no advice because it’s not advised.
I would not be comfortable at all trying to swab a squirming babies back of the throat or up the nose.
These structures are so tiny and so delicate in small babies you can potentially cause severe damage.

Thanks both. Yes @Yellowleadbetter that’s the kind of thing I was worried about. I think I will probably just assume she has it. I wanted to know for sure but what’s much more important is I don’t want to hurt her by doing the test…

You dont have to put the swab in far if you were going to do it

Here is a hospital leaflet describing how to test a baby, if it helps?
