What are the chances we’ll be free at the weekend?

DH has covid. Tested positive (LFT) on Sunday evening (faint) and then very strong lines yesterday and today. He had tested negative on Saturday.

We have an event on Saturday that we will have to cancel if he doesn’t have 2 negatives by then.

What are our chances? Any experiences of covid disappearing within 5 days or should we call off the event now? He caught it from me and i am now negative.

I went from strong positive to negative on 6th day of testing (Day 1, 3, 4, 5 shown here). I was negative on 07/03. So he could be negative by Saturday (possibly not Friday). All of this will become irrelevant when tests no longer available. I did school run on 07/03 despite only 1 negative. Depends what your event is.

Very low chance in my view. People who got negative on day 5 or 6 on threads I read generally already had it (so were actually on day 8/9/10) but you have been testing frequently and had a negative test on Saturday so will probably have to do longer. But don’t give up you never know.

Like everything with Covid, seems a bit of a lottery.

My son and husband had it mild and tested negative after 5 days.

I’m feeling rotten and am still testing positive after 6 days.

You’ll have to wait and see, I’m afraid.

I’m still testing positive and feeling rough - Day 9

Also, it’s quite likely that you will start testing positive at some point between now and the weekend.

Agree with this. I also have found that if you are asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms then a negative on Days 5 and 6 are more possible.

DH and I recently had Covid. Both had a faint positive for a couple of days. Then very strong positives. We had to do the full 10 days as we were then testing faint positive on days 7,8 and 9.

Also think it's likely a low chance. We all just had it, mostly asymptomatic (DH sneezed a couple of times in the first day, otherwise nothing) first negative came at day 7. Mine didn't come until day 9 (and I've had very very mild symptoms)

The first time I had COVID (October) I tested positive for 12 days. This time I tested negative for the first time on Day 7. DS (10) who had it at the same time as me didn't test negative until day 11.

I'd say the chances are low.
