Very faint line - is this the start or the end?

DP started with symptoms on Monday. Tested negative until Wednesday when it was positive.

He tested this morning and has a very faint line now and feels fine.

I tested for the first time today and also have a very faint line (so a positive test essentially). My symptoms are a sore throat which started Wednesday night.

Maybe no one can answer this but - DP's faint line is clearly the end of the virus for him, and I hope mine is too, but I'm wondering if tomorrow I will get a stronger line meaning it's actually the start.

Any thoughts?

Could be either. Why didn’t you test sooner? Then you would know.

I have very recently been through very similar, and would say that you are likely to have a stronger positive tomorrow.

We don't have many tests and as I wasn't going anywhere and working from home, I didn't want to use one up. I was meant to be going out tonight so wanted to test first.

Thanks @MrsElm, I thought that might be the case.

2 days seems a very short time to be coming to the end if your symptoms only started on Wednesday. I am on Day 5 and still have a very strong line. My DS (10) is on Day 8 and his is only just going lighter but still very apparent on the test. I think (unfortunately) you are just at the beginning.

Yes, but DP only had a strong line on Weds and Thursday and today has a faint one, so his is over and done with. But anyway, I guess time will tell...

Maybe wait and see what tomorrow brings for your DP. Maybe he didn't do such a good swab today?

I would say you are at the beginning from what you have said. Re your son the guidance is to retest on days 5 and 6 and for him to have 2 negs 24 hours a part to be clear.

Just to update everyone - I have, as suspected, a strong line today so I guess it's the start...hey ho!
