Paying for LFTs

Raindancer411 · 23/02/2022 12:39

Hi all

Just wondered, will you bother paying for a LFT after they are not free anymore?

I probably won't unless I need one to visit someone vulnerable, but just if any of us get cold symptoms, just to hide away more. Seeing as I may not know if my cold is just a cold anymore...

OP posts:
CloseYourEyesAndSee · 23/02/2022 12:44

Nope

bumblefeline · 23/02/2022 12:47

No. I don't test now anyway. None of us do.

SugarAndCoffee · 23/02/2022 12:48

I probably would if I were going to like a wedding or a conference

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/02/2022 14:23

Will I heck. I haven't even been using the free ones since December.

Joystir59 · 23/02/2022 14:28

No. I will not pay for them.

usernotfound0000 · 23/02/2022 14:29

Nope. Unless I was visiting somewhere like a concert or venue that insisted on one, then I don't plan on taking another LFT.

crossstitchingnana · 23/02/2022 14:30

Why wouldn't you want to protect others?
Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/02/2022 14:32

@crossstitchingnana because unfortunately some of us can't afford 10 days off work, so there's no point me testing because I'm going to work either way. So spare me the "protect others" attempt at guilt tripping.

Jules912 · 23/02/2022 14:33

Yes but I would be using them a lot more sparingly than I have been (probably only if visiting someone vulnerable).

DearlyBeloathed · 23/02/2022 14:34

Absolutely not.

Cakelover17 · 23/02/2022 14:36

No, I’m a key worker and work arnt asking us to test anymore either. If I was unwell and due to visit a vulnerable family member then I’d just cancel as I always have, I’d rather not pass on any bugs to vulnerable people.

EasterIssland · 23/02/2022 14:37

no, if i'm feeling too ill then i'll go to the doctor and they can do one for me (if they do) otherwise i'll treat it like any other virus

ilovesooty · 23/02/2022 14:40

Yes when I've used the free ones I have, just to see clients face to face and to visit the 87 year old friend I have dinner with every so often.

Buzzinwithbez · 23/02/2022 14:41

No.

OliveTree75 · 23/02/2022 14:50

Will do before I visit my grandad in care home but other than that, nope! Will not be buying them or doing them! If I am unwell will treat it like any other virus

Hermymee · 23/02/2022 14:51

No and no one will if we have to pay.

Usernumber5253747293 · 23/02/2022 14:58

Maybe if I was seeing someone vulnerable or elderly. But otherwise no. Covid can be so much like a cold for many people, are people going to be paying for tests every time they have cold symptoms? I won't be buying a test every time my kids have cold symptoms.

ilovesooty · 23/02/2022 15:01

@Hermymee

No and no one will if we have to pay.
You've already been told that some people will under certain circumstances.
Whitefire · 23/02/2022 15:12

Nope, wouldn't pay for them. My work would expect me in regardless, I will then take my own precautions in terms of contacts if I was feeling unwell.

CIaireFraser · 23/02/2022 15:15

I'll have to unfortunately. I need to take them twice a week at least, I'm ECV/immunocompromised.

Twizbe · 23/02/2022 15:20

Likely you'll be in the group that will still get them free
Twizbe · 23/02/2022 15:21

Nope but that I hardly used them anyway.

Svara · 23/02/2022 15:23

I won't need to as the vulnerable elderly people I visit should be able to access free tests.

feelsobadfeltsogood · 23/02/2022 15:27

This is an interesting one
I work for the NHS we are all wondering if they will provide them for us as nobody is happy about paying for them it's on the agenda at the next union meeting on Friday

CIaireFraser · 23/02/2022 15:31

@Twizbe afaik there will be no free LFTs, just symptomatic PCR testing for the ECV. I hope that's not the case obviously!
