Pain at side of ribs, sore to touch

I had covid 19 days ago and over the last few days I started feeling pain round my back where my shoulder blade is, but also round the sides of my ribs. I had a feel around and there’s a very sore tender area that feels as though it’s in between my ribs on the left side just a little further round from my breast.
It hurts to touch and it’s also hurting when twisting to pick something up or stretching my arm out.

I did do a lot of coughing/blowing my nose and sneezing when I had covid and afterwards.

Could I have possibly strained a muscle? I was also looking at costochondritis online or possible inter coastal muscle strain?

Just wondering if anyone has had similar? I’m just finishing a course of antibiotics for a secondary sinus infection post covid.

Could be costochondritis, OP. Am currently suffering from it at the moment (not Covid related, but pushing a door shut firmly during the storm caused it). Is very painful and is worse when lying down. It's a cartilage thing. Although the NHS site mentions the breastbone, you can have it anywhere in the rib cage area.

Pleurisy?

Oh, I had this when I had COVID. I contracted the virus almost 2 years ago in the first round, just before the very first lockdown....I was pretty ill with it (no vaccinations then) so in bed for a couple of weeks.

I remember the back/shoulder pain, difficult to describe to anyone and no-one was listening at the time. Later I had the rib thing, left hand side. It went on for weeks after I was better, I remember trying to describe it to my sister, I even wondered whether I had broken a rib or something coughing!!

It went away eventually and no damage done. It still don't know what it was, presumably I had pulled muscles or something. I will probably never know now.

@MeanderingGently snap, same time and I had that rib pain/tenderness for months (but I had long covid) couldn't wear a bra for ages as too uncomfortable along the left side. I researched and apparently the spleen is there and can become inflamed with a virus. No idea if I'm right but that was what I concluded🤷 went on too long to be musculoskeletal but did go eventually by itself. You could try some anti inflammatories (ibruprophen) 💐
