Good news for our friends in Scotland that face masks will no longer be mandated from the 21st March. Also vaccine passports ending on 28th February.

Yay

Yippee. I don't really mind wearing a mask too much but it will be nice to go and get some shopping without my glasses steaming up!

There is no reason why she isn't just stopping masks on Monday at the same time as kids don't have to wear them in the classroom.

Other than carrying on with the "I'm not Boris" schtick which has got a bit tired after the last 2 years.

This - in spades.

I've not seen much about this since the announcement. Are shops going to have their own rules or is it just, if you don't want to wear a mask you don't have to anywhere from the 21st? What about GPS etc?

I think there is a Scottish government update due tomorrow afternoon - hopefully this sort of info will be confirmed then (assuming it's not all postponed due to rising cases in Scotland...).

MichelleScarn · 14/03/2022 14:20

Interesting @botanics the travelling tabby webpage which gives the daily figures has said can't be gathered today due to 'technical issues'...Hmm

botanics · 14/03/2022 14:29

Don't know about that, but www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-60736563 indicates an update due tomorrow and mentions that:

The Office for National Statistics estimated on Friday that Scotland had the highest rate of Covid infections since sampling began in autumn 2020.

One in 18, almost 300,000 people, had Covid in the previous week. The estimated infection levels had risen for six consecutive weeks.

Figures released last Wednesday showed the number of people in Scottish hospitals with Covid was at its highest for 13 months.

So I do wonder if the dropping of remaining restrictions on 21st might be pushed back.

Gerbilteeth · 14/03/2022 14:32

They need to speed up the 4th vaccine.

Itsbackagain · 14/03/2022 14:40

I don't think they'll push it back - elections due soon and the majority of people have I think had enough. I know I have and I'm CEV so not without risk. Booster of boosters is already being rolled out although I'm not taking any more now.

historyrocks · 15/03/2022 20:23

Face mask requirement has now been extended to April.

Gerbilteeth · 15/03/2022 22:29

What about schools, though? A lot of transmission must be happening there.

Gerbilteeth · 15/03/2022 22:31

It would be nice if children could actually sit the exams after 2 years of cancelled exams.
