I’ve had long covid for two years - lucky that it’s been fairly mild overall but the catalogue of symptoms is long, and weird.

A couple of odd ones:

Aching glutes and sit bones. I have to sit on very soft chairs now!

Tingling, but only on my shins.

Who else has got weird symptoms?

Tingling on toes, itchy scabs on head.

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 21/02/2022 16:04

I can’t spell. So odd

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 21/02/2022 16:04

Oh kissed the long bit! Hope this isn’t long term it’s really embarrassing

Phyllis321 · 21/02/2022 16:04

Hives - but only in the evening.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 21/02/2022 16:06

Insomnia and palpitations. I just lie there for hours with my mind racing and the palpitations come whenever I eat as if I struggle to digest food now.

IpanemaPeaHen · 21/02/2022 16:13

Tingling of the soles of my feet. Nearly two years in for me too.

Inflammation of lungs but that’s getting better.

FavouriteFortnight · 21/02/2022 18:19

I’ve remembered another one that’s thankfully abated now - every time I turned my head to my left I lost my balance

I only had covid at the beginning of the month, so this may not count as long covid yet, but ever since I've had tinnitus, dizziness and vertigo. It comes and goes now, but I can't go from lying down to even lifting my head from the pillow without feeling like my brain has moved in my head.

Yes I had these too in the first year (oddly not straight after the initial illness). Thankfully gone now - the vertigo was particularly unpleasant.

I get the painful glutes thing, plus when I drink a certain brand of stout, it tastes like garden peas and I can eat sugar straight from the bag and it doesn't have any sweetness. I also have a thing where I jolt awake up like I've been tasered. Itchy back, across the shoulders, that actually started after my first jab and has got worse.

SuperheroBirds · 21/02/2022 22:00

Four months on from having has COVID, my sense of smell has dinky come back about 10% and my sense of taste is still affected. Most annoyingly, it has sent my periods haywire. I’ve had 8 periods in 4 months, at random but very frequent intervals. I essentially have to carry sanitary protection with me everywhere as they can start at any time!

nodogz · 21/02/2022 22:01

Yes, painful glutes and shins!!!! So sore!!!

8 weeks in now.

Nosebleeds are a weird symptom. See also Itchy eyes. Sore tongue when I wake up like it's all dried up (despite taping my mouth up). Restless legs and itchy skin, can't wear leggings, tights and jeans as it's irritating.

minimoojo · 22/02/2022 21:44

Covid March 2020 then long covid. Mainly better but the weird things left are - tingly feet and achy toes

  • no sense of smell in left nostril
  • hands and arms regularly go numb at night
  • itchy shins
  • burning calves and palms of hands
  • tinnitus
  • weird tongue
  • since I had covid whenever I'm tired or my immune system is run down or fighting off something I get some of the weird symptoms I had post covid again (numb tongue, burning throat and chest, headaches, itchy red eyes)
Sunshineanddaisies2021 · 22/02/2022 21:47

Can't spell either or recall words. I was good at both before.

minimoojo · 22/02/2022 21:53

Oh and I had burping/GERD for ages too but that finally went away after my first vaccine

Spuriously17windows · 22/02/2022 21:58

Tinnitus and partial hearing loss - it’s only been a few months so hopefully not “long” Covid. Hearing loss in one ear was almost gone for a month, back to 80% now.

I did have tinnitus and hearing issues but those have gone now - fingers crossed they resolve quickly for you.

My smell and taste has never fully recovered and I randomly completely lose it. Also lots of things smell like burnt matches or wood, even though they normally don't smell the same

Goofbawl · 22/02/2022 22:49

Not sure if I have long Covid or not but some things have changed since I had Covid back in December 2020.
Periods up the spout. On and off my normal cycle.
I had tinnitus before Covid but it seems to be much better now… very random. It would come and go anyway but I can’t remember the last time it was bad.
If I’m coming down with something I get a very tender ear. Can’t describe it very well, just the bone behind one ear feels tender to touch and uncomfortable.
I also get a weird ache in my right armpit.
Not necessarily linked but these things have definitely only been happening since I had Covid.
Sorry to all of you with diagnosed long Covid and suffering. I hope there is something that can be done for you soon x

TMI but Dp had erectile and sexual issues. He had covid really mildly but for a month after struggled down there, loss of sensation, just didn't feel normal down there. Had to be covid or just coincidence. It's becoming a more well known thing now.

I've not had too many long term effects. My sinuses play up since but I have bad sinuses anyway. Smell and taste has been hit and Miss too but not too bad!
